I've built this kit back in 2021 stock, striped it, now rebuilding it again as a Pro Street.  It has been setting on my bench for months so when I ordered some wheels & tires for my 37 Ford Sedan build I went ahead and picked up these wheels & tires knowing that somewhere down the line I'd be building this 56 again.  I'm going with the Tamiya acrylic XF-27 Black Green on this one.  I started out yesterday by cutting the box to except these Big ole meats.  Pill bottles were my choice (I've used pill bottle before) for the wheel tubs.  A lot of sanding to be done to get those wheel tubs looking and fitting nice.

You're off to a good start Bob! ?

Thanks man.  It's a slow start.

Gonna be a cool build.

Thanks.  I may add just a touch of black to the black green to really get it dark.

I would just paint the new wheel wheels in red primer, redo the windshield chrome and call it a day. You know how hard some people work to get that beautiful patina!?

I might be alone on this. But I find that some models after they have been in the strip tank have a unique faux patina that if a person did it right could make a pretty interesting finish.

but that’s just me lol.
Carry on Bob, a pro street will be neat. What’s under the hood?

A dark wash on the bed floor and top of running boards, rechrome the windows, an overspray of Dull Coat and bingo done. I wouldn't even replace the door handles.

Like you said that is just me though.

Sort of hate that you had to stripe this one to redo it, always thought it was a neat build. Look forward to whatever you're building out of it.

Thanks man.  Just not sure I want to go that route.

Thanks man.  I'm thinking it's a 572.  It's the engine out of the AMT Hot Wheels Monster truck.

Thanks David.  That body was stripped last year and been setting on my bench.

I think I have the wheel tubs about where I want them.  I tried 3 different glues to glue the white sheet stock to the pill bottles and they all failed.  I have white glue (Mod Podge) on it now hoping that will work.

Oh great now I have to buy that kit, paint it and strip it to match your pictures so that I can model your model. It could become model inception!

Hi Bob, love this one so far! I have this kit in the stash, and thought I would do a similar build to this one day. I’ll be watching sir. Question, are the wheels/tires from Texas 3d?  Did you try CA glue with kicker on the tubs, I would think that might work? Maybe do that on the outside seam as reinforcement? Looks good, keep up the good work.

Cheers, Steve

Thanks Steve.  I've already built one of these as a Pro Street but wanted to build another a little different.  The wheels & tires come from Jay's Resin Wheels 1948 on ebay.  I have white glue on the tubs right now.  Going to let them set over night and see how that works.
