Watching your extremely convincing detailing, Pierre, I'm almost regretting that I sold this kit - it looked too primitive. But you prove again what can be made of this - excellent oil-cooler detail for example.

Thanks Helmut. It is a primitive kit but the body is cast in a very convincing way, so with a few adds hopefully this can become a nice curbside model of a beautiful race car.

The next little add is to relocate the spoiler actuator and fabricate  it a bit more to scale.

Last little upgrade is to make the exhaust outlets a bit more realistic. I drilled out the ones molder in the rear valance and made new tips from hollowed out 3.2 mm styrene tubes. I'm not doing anything about the meshing like the top builders can do and will try to make it work with paints and washes.

Agreed. These ancient monogram kits, essentially slot-car "hardboldies", were well designed from a "faithful to the lines and proportions of the original" standpoint.

Minor upgrades have the potential to turn them into stunning models.

Good call on the brake ducts, I also like all the other little bits you're adding.

As I say, sometimes the smallest details can have the largest impact.

Completed the basic interior and added very little: a shifter and dressing up the gauges.

Also prepped and painted (primer & color coat) the body. Clear tomorrow. getting close.

Thanks guys. I cleared the body this morning. 2 coats Tamiya acrylic brushed on with one hour gap. This body is a bit complicated for brush painting so I added more thinner and retarder to give me a few extra seconds to lay the paint to all surfaces. In the end it smoothed out good and polishing requirements will be minimal. Next steps are to do the polishing, black detailing and washes for the meshing, decals and a coat of Future.

The paint on the body looks nice and smooth , after your detailing it should look awesome !

Thanks Bob. It's not possible for me to spray so I have developed ways to brush paint which require extra steps to get a good finish. The picture does not show it but there are very fine brush marks which I will eliminate with a bit of 4000 or 6000 sanding perpendicular to the brush stroke direction, followed by Tamiya fine and finish rubs.

Trying to bring a bit of life to the screened areas using a variety of Vallejo washes. It's still lacking in my opinion. Considering perhaps a delicate rub with Tamiya weathering silver to the screens... I "dunno"   advice please?

Working decals is something I never cover in a w.i.p. but there is an idea I want to share for those considering building this lit. The car has unique door latch handles molded in the body and the "65" decal covers it. Thinking of the challenge of making the decal conform and look correct I chose to take another path. Not sure it is better but an alternative to consider.

Yep that works !  Maybe a little black paint to complete the missing parts of the 6 and 5 .

And the rear screens look good to me the way they are now . You could try the Tamiya weathering powder but I'd be worried about it getting into the black wash . . . maybe practice on something similar first .
