cobraman Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 Finished this up a bit ago. In all my years of building I don’t believe I ever built a Porsche ! This is a nice kit and I enjoyed building it . Porscheman ?? No . Used Tamiya white primer . Then Tamiya TS-12 orange . Due to the crappy weather we were having I opted not to spray clear it and instead used the Future type floor shine . No extra parts were used . This kit does have some PE parts . The hardest part for me was all the black trim . I did the best I could . I used a combination of marker and brushed paint . 2
majel Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 That came out really nice Ray! The paint and decals look great. Did you run the Future through an airbrush our did you brush it on?
cobraman Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 Thanks Jim ! I did it with a soft wide brush. Two coats.
Pierre Rivard Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Well done Ray. I'm still coping with the fact it is not a Cobra...lol FYI I use Tamiya 2mm tape for curves to help with trim painting. It's the white plastic tape that stretches a bit and can work around curves.
David G. Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 There's a lot of work in a kit like that, all of it nicely done. I know what you mean about the weather. We should hardly complain about the weather in Phoenix, but it seems that lately any time I had a chance to shoot some paint it was cold, windy and rainy. You must paint on your patio like I do. Again, great work on the Porsche! It looks like a challenging but satisfying kit to build. David G.
cobraman Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 Thanks very much fellows. David, I do paint in a garage but for awhile it wasn't even hitting 60.
Gramps46 Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 I like it. I don't know why but the 934 has always been one of my favorites in the 911 family. You do know it is going to be lonely on the shelf with all those Fords. ?
Rich Chernosky Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Wow...Ray built something other than a Cobra....and did a darn good job too.
1959scudetto Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Good-looking Porsche in a classic 70/80's sponsor livery, Ray - we didn't expect such a model from you (where is the Ford engine?)
cobraman Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 Thank you fellows. You can't build that same thing all the time , can you ? Do not fear. I still have about 40 unbuilt Cobra kits including an a 1/8 scale Agoura kit to do. Not sure why but I really am stalling on starting that one.
cobraman Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 Surprise guys, I also built an airplane ! It's a Thunderstreak with Thunderbirds decoration. It's in the aviation section if interested.
Gluebomber Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Nice build of a really good kit. Great Job, Ray!
Belugawrx Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Looks like the decals laid down nicely for you Ray?
cobraman Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 Thank you Bruce. These decals were a pleasure to apply.
happy grumpy Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 That's a great looking Porsche Ray. Matches the box perfectly.
