Finally got this one done.  I was thinking it was gonna be a pretty quick build....but as we sometimes know. at least me, took way longer than it should have. A couple times I about gave up on it but it being a gift from my lovely wife (because she actually likes the '63 Impala) I persisted to get 'er done. Was my first use of Tamiya Gloss Acrylic.  First painting had way too many flaws so into the pond it went.  Second painting went well and I do really like the gloss the paint produces without clear.  So I decided to just polish it out and did not use clear.  I'm pretty happy with the results of the painting.

I went curbside with it since the 409 in this kit is pretty lame.   Wasn't happy that the frame, exhaust, driveshaft and and suspension is all moulded on the chassis.

I also used the kit custom wheels which I think look pretty nice.  It's a bit of a departure from my usual use of aftermarket or not kit specific wheels.  Tires tho are the AMT F/70 front and L/70 rear Redlines.

Yeah baby....that's a Looker Buddy.  Those red line tires look really nice.  I always liked black interior but boy is it hot.

This build brings back memories of my high school days...it was only "hot" when you weren't moving...and the 4spd 409 would "move"!!

Looks pretty cool red with black interior, awesome. I neve built the AMT kit I went for the recent revell which I went the opposite Black body with red interior. That gloss acrylic looks pretty good.

Great looking paint and interior. Like the clean chrome trim. I'm sort of a fan of impalas from this era.

Thanks Bob....you know the issues I had. And by the way, thanks again for sending me the red paint I used on it.

Sweet looking Impala!  Makes me want to grab one and hit the bench!

Thanks Jeremy!  It's almost a snap together kit and builds quite easily.

Looks great, Mike! I love the Daisy mags. What kit did they come from?

Thank you Tim. The wheels are in the kit. I use Cragers on a lot of my builds but thought these looked pretty good.

Looking Good Mike!  Paint is smooth and shiny.

Thanks Chaz. As for the paint, it was the first time I used Tamiya paint.

Thank you David!  Yeah, I'm a fan of all the GM big cars in the '60's.

Looks good, Mike! I drove a 63 Chevy Biscayne for 4 years when I commuted to college! It was a very dependable car and comfortable for its day. It was one of those little ol' lady cars that only went to the grocery store but was in great shape when I got it in 1969. Unfortunately, it was that ugly pea green color and faded from the weather so it wasn't very cool as we would say back in the day! Yours looks great in red! ??

That is a beautiful build of one of the most beautiful cars ever produced.

Thanks Douglas.  During and after the build I had more of an appreciation of the look of the body.
