This is an A.IT.M. cab on an AMT Louisville chassis. It has 8v-71 Detroit power, Clint Freeman 2 hole Budd wheels, Double Take steer tires, Scenes Unlimited drive tires, and various other parts box items. This is meant to depict a restored tractor.

Super build, Brian - someone, who knows his stuff... I can't remember seeing any pictures of Carolina truck tractors looking this clean - they always seemed to be covered with dirt, dust and road grime (be it in one of my trucking books or on the - unfortunately long defunct - Hank Suderman site). You must have a great collection there...

Thanks Helmut!! I never saw any working Carolina trucks this clean either. I decided to make this one represent a restored truck.

Looks great.  Must get terrible mileage with the aerodynamics of a brick.

Thanks Warren!! I haven't driven it far enough to get an idea of the mileage.😁

Great looking fleet tractor!  The paint scheme goes well with the Ford cab, like the detailing and tire and wheel choice, very mid 70's looking!

Thanks Tommy!!

You do a great job building on these older truck, particularly the fleet unis. You are able to capture the simplicty this era of truck has compared to today. Great work.

Thanks!! Old fleet trucks are my favorite! The 70s and 80s are my favorite era.

Great looking fleet truck. I like the cut-off front bumper. So many fleets did that. I believe they thought it helped fuel mileage.

Thanks Steve!! I remember back in the 80s that truck bumpers seemed to get bent all of the time; deer, dogs, etc.. I don't know if this is truly the reason, but a driver told me that the short bumpers were to keep the bumper from being pushed back into the steer tire causing the truck driver to be unable to steer the truck, for example if a deer was hit. Of course there could have been multiple reasons. The company that my dad worked for put a small bumper on a Freightliner to save about 30lbs.

Great build Brian. Looks really cool in the natural light.

Thanks Mario!! I agree, outside pictures do look a little better, at least for my builds.

Very nice work! Reminds me of all those Gene Tracy jokes about Carolina Freight drivers, most of whom would never have kept their truck as clean as yours!

Thanks! You're right. I built this one to represent a restored unit.
