sflam123 Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 VERY nice work!! Someday I'd like to build one of these.
magicmustang Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 (edited) Excellent build. Nice to see body, chassis and engine accurately displayed. Edited July 6, 2023 by magicmustang 1
Len Woodruff Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 I always wondered if this car ever had a blower. Looks like it did based on the aboe pic.

Yep, he started the '67 season as a injected only car, but added a blower as the need for more power arose. Edited July 7, 2023 by magicmustang 1
papajohn97 Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Nice job Dale! A very accurate representation of a milestone drag car. I have a set of Slixx decals for this car and would love to build one like this as a “bookend” for my early sixties super stock model collection showing the evolution of drag cars from showroom stock to flipper funnies. Which kit(s) did you use to create this model? It’s too bad we have to kit-bash to accurately recreate early funnies like this one. Thanks for posting! John

John I used the body from the AMT 67 Mercury Comet Cyclone GT kit, the chassis from the Polar Lights Hawaiian funny car and the 427 SOHC from Texas 3D Customs 1

Yeah, these cars changed constantly to keep up with the competition, you kinda have to pick a time and base your model on that period.
Snake45 Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Almost certainly the nicest model of this car that I have EVER seen. VERY well done and model on!
chris chabre Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 beautiful work! My father is a 60/early 70s ford and mercury drag race historian, I love those cars
M W Elky Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Looks great the injected cammer is exceptional and the color looks right on
Bainford Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Love it! Fantastic build. Everything looks right. I really dig the look of an injected Cammer. Glad you built this one un-blown.
iBorg Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 I need a thumbs up emoji. Looks accurate as a replica.
Lobo2me Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 Very nicely done! Brings back memories of watching "Dyno" Don run at Mid-America Raceway in 1966 (except I believe that was in Eliminator I). Thanks for thew memory jolt!
Hoffman Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Dale, that looks GREAT! Excellent workmanship. Love the details. The colors look right on, especially noticed the magnesium finish on the wheels and valve covers- perfect! What type/color paint to you use on those pieces?

For the magnesium finish I started with Tamiya XF-24 and added a little silver, a little gold, a little green, until it looked right to me. If you look at vintage photos of magnesium parts, there are many shades. I was going after a Dow #7 look.
