Supernurd Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Here, we have the latest release of the AMT 62 Impala SS convertible. Very detailed kit without a whole lot of fit issues. In my opinion this is one of AMT's better kits. One error that I noticed was in the molded rear emblem on the passenger side rear quarter panel. The "SS" should be at the rear instead of the front. They got the decal for it right, but when you go to overlay it, it's reversed! I should have BMF'd the emblems before I applied the decals, but for now I'm calling it done. I may go back and BMF it and paint in the details if I get the urge. Good enough for the shelf. 11
happy grumpy Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Awesome all the way. A red Impala and a red interior. Doesn't get any better than that. Excellent detailing .
karbuildr Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 I can almost hear the rumble of that 409. ? Very nice build, red is an excellent color for these cars. 1
AMT68 Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Excellent job and I like the detail work on the bodyside trim. Whitewall tires are a nice touch on this model. I just picked up an older release recently which didn't include whitewalls. 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Excellent build! The boot cover looks very realistic. 1
XYHARRY Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 That's a gorgeous impala and nicely detailed. I like the twin antenna, are they in the kit or scratch built? 1
Supernurd Posted August 4, 2023 Author Posted August 4, 2023 (edited) Thanks for the comments. The antennae are scratch built. Not sure if they were included in previous versions. Edited August 4, 2023 by Supernurd

The Modeling Hermit Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 This is a beautiful model of one of the most elegant cars ever made. As with your hardtop, thanks for using the white walls. 1

As it would be costly to work on the body mold, R2's attempt to correct it is the correct decals. You need to sand off the emblems before painting the body, then use the decals. 1
Zippi Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Great looking 62 Impala. Love the red on red and nice pics as well. 1
