NOBLNG
Started this one a little while ago. It’s basically going to be a OOB build (I know I’ve said that before🥴) with just a wheel and tire change. I de-chromed most of the engine parts and repainted them flat aluminum. The package shelf needs a bit of trimming to fit properly, and a bit of shimming on the right side to get it level. NOBLNG
I got some black primer and SG clear on some of the interior parts, and got the door panels detailed. The dash needs a re-do and is in the pond right now.😕 Edited August 10, 2023 by NOBLNG
NOBLNG
I don’t remember what kit the wheels are from. They had solid backs and decals for brake rotors. I decided to open up the backs and add my resin cast brake rotors. I first had to add styrene stubs to the outer rims so I would have something to connect to the knuckles and differential. I may need to trim them slightly yet to get the track width right.🤔 The original kit rims and brakes are at the top and the ones I am using are at the bottom. Thats it for now.😎 Edited August 10, 2023 by NOBLNG

customline
Some great work, Greg. I've got a bunch of 'Vettes to build but the '61/62 body style is my fave. I'm following 👍
ea0863
Greg, I always love it when you say "I'm building it OOB". Beautiful work as always. Just the door cards alone look like little works of art!

NOBLNG
The new tires weren’t the same diameter inside and out, so needed a bit of trimming to sit straight. I managed to get the brakes finished and the wheels mounted to set the ride height. I managed to break the turn signal lever while stripping the dash so had to fab a new one. I think kit levers tend to look a little too thick anyway usually.🤔 I pinned the mirror and fabbed up a speaker grill from a paint strainer screen before re-painting it. The round decals need to be trimmed very close to fit in the pods but they all went down pretty nicely. I also managed to break the passenger grab handle, so I made one from a bobby pin…it ain’t gonna break again.😜 Edited August 19, 2023 by NOBLNG
mustang1989
I like all the details that you're putting into this build. The wheel/ tire combo aren't necessarily my cup of tea but hey....the build's not done yet and I'll be looking forward to seeing how they "click" with this car as the build goes on. Looking forward to more.

NOBLNG
Since I upgraded to disc brakes all round, I had to do something about the old manual master cylinder.🧐 So I scratch built a power booster and adapter and used a resin MC. Got the rest of the interior assembled too.
NOBLNG
Now, on to my nemesis…paint work. The black primer I used went on horribly.😬 It did sand down nicely though. Then the Premier enamel that I decanted and airbrushed didn’t go down too smoothly either. I should have thinned it some with LT.🤷♂️ After a few days in the dehydrator, it sanded out nicely too with 1500, but I went through on the back edge where I missed the faint mould seam.😡 I sprayed another coat over the whole thing and it’s in the dehydrator.

customline
Those rims, I think, look great on my favorite Corvette, Greg. The carpet looks REAL ! Very nice work on the whole interior, in fact. I sympathize on the paint. Lately my stuff goes that way too. It's nothing you can't fix. A lot of my paint problems are technique related, and I don't think I will live long enough to get really good at it. When they turn out good, it's pure luck. 💩

Steve H
Hi Greg, trying to get caught up with what my friends have been building. This is looking great! Love the stance. Hope you have success sorting out the paint issue, that’s a bummer. The “box stock” comment at the beginning of this thread made me laugh. Greg…box stock…. Ya right! What is box stock anyway?🤔😜

NOBLNG
Well I got the paint issues straightened out. I removed the mold seam, applied more paint and sanded it smooth after a few weeks in the dehydrator. Then two coats of Mr. hobby Premium clear…decals, foil, and another coat of clear. I will have to watch some videos on polishing before I decide whether or not to bother with it.🤔 Thanks for lookin!🙂 Edited September 20, 2023 by NOBLNG
