Chuck Most Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Box stock Academy kit that's a pleasure to build. Don't know why I slept on this kit for so long. Since the kit includes different mirrors and bumpers, I "mismatched" those to indicate collision damage repaired with salvage parts. The primed fender missing it's side marker lamp emphasizes it. Otherwise it's scummed up with Tamiya and Vallejo paints. 6
stitchdup Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 One of our local taxi companies had 3 of these for weekend nights. The doors could get booted by drunks but they always popped back our again cos the metal was that thick and the vinyl seats could be hosed down in 5 mins. Apparently its based on the Morris Marina so watch out for falling pianos
Spottedlaurel Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Looks fantastic! Well, it doesn't, but you know what I mean....
Tom Geiger Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Nice Build! I always enjoy your attention to crusty detail! ? This was the first Korean car and is revered there like we think of a Mustang!
StanGlover Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 I built a factory fresh one a while back! You’re right, it builds up beautifully. Not a single sliver of flash on the parts trees either. 4
cifenet Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 I believe the design of Hyundai Pony was done by the same Italian firm where they designed many of popular sports cars from Lamborghini and Lancia! Very Interesting idea and execution! I also like the fact that the model tells a story!
Bugatti Fan Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 (edited) Nice models of a basic run about car instead of all the racers and exotic motors Chuck and Zack. Les Budge mentioned that it might ha ave been based on the Morris Marina. When the Marina was in production during the 70's British Motor Corporation and Leyland Motors became British Leyland. The new company for a while had two bosses, George Turnbull and Lord Stokes. Turnbull was approached by the Koreans to be involved in the setting up of car production in that country, and left the UK to take up the appointment. So the new Korean car possibly had a number of features taken from the Marina under Turnbull's influence. Airfix made a 1/32nd scale kit of the Marina Saloon car way back. Not sure if if the Airfix kit depicted the original Marina or the one that had the Ital restyling. The kits are a bit rare these days as I am not sure if Airfix ever reissued it. ncbuckeye67 Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 Very cool build. I love the weathered crusty look. I need to try this, they can't all be shiny & pretty!
Rattlecan Dan Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Super creativity. Looks amazingly realistic. Nice work!
Zippi Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Good looking ole beater for around the farm Chuck. The weathering looks pretty darn good.
