Phildaupho Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 This Red Lobster March 83G was built from the Formula Canada curbside resin kit I had in my stash for about 25 years. The big lobster decals over the top needed lots of Solva Set to conform then after a couple of days reacted badly to Tamiya Clear so a major recovery process was required involving lots more clear, sanding and then more clear. 7
Pierre Rivard Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 Wonderful build and looking at the 25 year old huge lobster decal...must have been scary to get this one on the body. The livery of that car just brings a smile to my face. Beautiful!
drodg Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 I so remember that car and you did a beautiful job.
TonyK Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 I remember this car and always liked it a lot. Your model looks great!

Thanks everyone. There were some other great looking liveries on 83G's but the Red Lobster was my favourite. I remember back in the day there were no Red Lobster restaurants at least on the west coast of Canada. On a trip to the USA I found one and had dinner. The marketing worked !! Now that the model is together I wish I had got the front end a bit lower but at this point I would probably damage it if I tried to fix it.
absmiami Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 MODEL MUCH BETTER THAN RESTAURANT thanks for posting ...
spencer1984 Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 Your effort really paid off, that's a killer finish!
Nacho Z Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 Seriously, one of the coolest liveries around! Great job on the model. I would have been sweating bullets dunking that first decal in the water…lol.

Yes John the decals did cause me to seat bullets and I am amazed they turned out as you see them. I thought I had totally blown it.
Dave B Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 Spectacular Phil, I bet you loved doing the decals over the vents in the front guards! Dave B
WillyBilly Posted March 26 Posted March 26 What a great build. the decals must have been fun to apply.

The Red Lobster car has to be one of the coolest liveries ever put on a race car. Looking forward to seeing how this comes out. Thanks guys 1
