OldNYJim Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 That’s really nice work - realistic weathering, and some really nice additional details! What do you like for your plug boots? Syringe tubing? Cant wait to see the rest - enjoy seeing your work!

I don’t find syringe very useful since they are impossible to cut I use micro aluminum tubing easily sliced with a knife , 0.8mm for plug boots. 0.5mm for fuel lines 1 1
OldNYJim Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Ahh yeah, that Albion stuff is awesome, I like that too! Thank for the reply - keep the updates coming!!
Speedpro Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 That's some good looking engine weathering and detailing!
Rattlecan Dan Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Gorgeous detailing on that engine. Good luck with the Nova.
Steve H Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Whoa!…. That is some spectacular engine detailing, and top shelf weathering.. VERY nice.?? Looks like you are fairly new to the forum, so welcome aboard. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Cheers, Steve
NOBLNG Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 I agree with everyone…nice weathering and detailing. I like the tubing for plug boots idea too.?

Thanks for the tip on the tube sizes, ordering some now ??
ubermodel Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 I gotta say, usually I'm not one for weathered engines, but those dirty chrome valve covers look exactly like they should after years of oil, grease, fingerprints, dust, and dirt on them. Nice work.
JET. Posted March 31, 2024 Author Posted March 31, 2024 Wires added, you can probably guess what color the car will be now lol, oh and I had to remake the fuel line cause not only did I break it off, it also interfered with the alternator haha 7
JET. Posted April 9, 2024 Author Posted April 9, 2024 Paint on the ‘69 nova, I used a purple flake, then 4 coats of candy pink, then pearl clear over everything. Then 5 coats of Mr.color gloss lacquer. Just gotta wet sand and polish it out still . Let it sit for the rest of the month to cure My Movie 41.mov 8
Codi Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 That's fantastic JT. The color is gorgeous and you lay down some great paint. Oh, and that engine ain't too shabby either. I'll be sure to follow along. cheers, tim
Mike Slapattack Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Beautiful work! I love how the black wash accent brings out all the detail and adds shadows and depth. Did you only apply it before painting the color or did you also apply it after? Also what kind of wash did you use?
OldNYJim Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 That hood has one of the best lacquer clear-coat jobs I’ve seen in a while…nice work!!
JET. Posted April 25, 2024 Author Posted April 25, 2024 Started adding the bare metal foil trim. I decided to add the chrome trim on the sides, not to many Nova’s had that I think it looks cool 5
espo Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 Beautiful looking paint color and finish. The chrome window moldings you mention were an extra cost trim option on the Nova, I had them on my '72 Nova SS. 1
OldNYJim Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Stunning! You’ve got a real skill when it comes to paint (I spotted that 30 Coupe on your IG too…that one’s equally great!!) 1
Andrew McD Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Beautiful paint, both the color and the application. Very convincing engine. I’ll be watching this one! 1
Pierre_tec Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Looks so nice ,and smooth. Looking forward the wheel choice!
