NOBLNG Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 (edited) Since there will be no access from above, I needed to delete the spare tire well. Actually , I am deleting the spare tire entirely. This provides an opportunity to install a larger fuel tank. I narrowed the one from the Polar Lights GTO to fit. Edited May 3 by NOBLNG
NOBLNG Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 (edited) And I managed to get the new box rails and tailgate cap attached with CA. To hide the splices I filed a small groove and “welded” in some 0.060” half round with Tamiya extra thin cement. Edited May 10 by NOBLNG 5
Spex84 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I'm a fan of your solution for that too-thin C-pillar. It looks fantastic now! The proportions remind me of the work done by Valley Custom. Looking very good indeed...and with that in mind, I keep picturing it in a candy brandywine red with whitewalls and chrome-reverse wheels. *shrug* That combo doesn't really go with the modern engine though, so what about a Pro-touring look with deep-offset wheels with satin-finish centers of some sort? 1

Both sets of wheels "work", the 'caps and white walls have my vote. On 4/24/2025 at 6:05 PM, 1930fordpickup said: The B pillar change helps the look. I hate to say it but the white walls with caps also have my vote. Maybe a set of babymoons would look good also. The b-pillar mods look really good. I liked the first roof shape a lot, but in comparing the two, the new & improved version looks way better. This is another vote for whitewalls & hubcaps. Those make it look factory stock, even if it's a phantom. On 4/27/2025 at 2:35 PM, Mark W said: The scribe line is perfect! Nice. On 4/30/2025 at 9:13 AM, johnyrotten said: Creative solution. I am happy with the roof profile now.🙂 The extension does make huge improvement in my mind. I think I will go with the hubcaps and white walls unless I can find a set of baby moons in the parts box. I’d like a slightly wider set of tires for the rear, but unless I can splice two tires together or find a suitable pair that I could paint I will use the kit tires Edited May 9 by NOBLNG

Thanks Chris. I plan on painting it a mixture of metallic red and metallic black. The roof will be gloss black. I have mulled over the idea of ditching the LS and putting a 409 in it instead. Hmmm….🤔 1
STU111 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I’m a bit late to this thread, but wow! That side profile looks great, just like a 55 El Camino may have looked if it was made back then by Chevrolet. Nice work, I’m going to keep an eye on this build. 👍🏻 1
Zippi Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I'm liking the third one from the left and the 409 sounds pretty sweet. 1
Belugawrx Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I like all the colour choices...and a nice 409 would look great in there Greg 1
customline Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I reeeeealy like the way this is going, Greg. The roof looks great. I like the second spoon from the left. I'm glad to see this build moving forward. 1
NOBLNG Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 Trying to tidy up some loose ends before squirting any paint. I’m using some of the parts from a Revell ‘55 that I have become disillusioned with.🙄 Mainly the door handles and hood emblem. I filed off the cast in AMT emblem, drilled some divots for glue and filed the thickness of the emblems down somewhat. Also using the Revell hood ornament since the AMT piece had a huge sink mark right on the top.😡 The door locks are almost nonexistent (like the interior window cranks and door handles) so I got some 1mm aluminum tube to make new ones. On the bottom I did a trial run on my Polar Lights GTO test mule to guage the looks…I’m ok with that.🙂 3
Ulf Posted May 12 Posted May 12 I'm late to the party. Tour extension looks amazing, it gives the car class.
