kensar Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 (edited) This model depicts the prototype 1958 Lister Jaguar that was purchased by Briggs Cummingham and driven to the 1958 SCCA championship by Walt Hansgen in the C modified class. There were no models of this car in 1/24, so I made the body out of Renshape polyurethane foam, which was then covered with fiberglassing resin. The wheels are from Ukraine Scale Car Production and the running gear is from a Revell XKSS which is based on the Jaguar D type. Of course I also made a number of scratchbuilt details. iBorg Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 That would do Michael Quarterman proud. Wonderful build. 1
1959scudetto Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Absolutely excellent model, Ken - fantastic (I followed your WIP) ! 1
Rich Chernosky Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Some impressive modeling skills there Ken. Not many of us have the guts to take a block of anything and turn it into a model. And have it turn out to be as sweet as this. Congrats. 1
Phildaupho Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Gorgeous model. Very well built. Congratulations. 1
Bruce Scully Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 A lot of great work in this, well done. 1
Pierre Rivard Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Scratchbuilding extraordinaire. The whole process of carving the body from Renshape was a feat in itself but then looking into the details is what makes this replica so real looking. The aluminium interior panels (especially the seat backs), the integration of the XKSS chassis elements, the windshield fabrication with the real fasteners, I could go on and on, it all looks so special. Anybody noticed the air scoops on top of the rear fenders? Perfectly in scale. Wow! 1
MarkJ Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Totally missed this one Ken. Awesome work again and the scratch building is amazing to say the least. Did you finish the GT40 and I missed that too? It's tough to get old and forgetful. 1
kensar Posted September 4, 2024 Author Posted September 4, 2024 Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments. I hope you were able to pick up some ideas to improve your building skills as sharing ideas is what these forums are all about. I am a bit surprised at how quickly this got done. I usually takes me 6-8 weeks to build an injection molded kit and this one was built from scratch.
Dave B Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Having followed this on WIP that's a great build Ken, congratulations. Dave B 1
