I am in the 3-6 kit category for purchase. Those cars are so .. underrated.

@Stef Facts about nostalgia, most of the kits in my stash are nostalgia, and the kits I buy forward will be nostalgia and new to me!

Agreed 128%, Michael! I love old and new-to-me! The guys in my model car club keep finding great old stuff for me that I've been hunting decades for, and they, this forum, and HPI Guy, introduce me to so many new and old kits and subjects I never would have thought of before!

These Moebius kits seem poised to offer the best of both worlds: they'll hit us with nostalgic feels, while satisfying our modern cravings for detail, challenge, and potential. Still working on my Moebius 72 wrecker, and it is such a joy to work on a modern kit of something I grew up with every day as a kid! Moebius is on fire, and I am here for it!

Like Tim said it's a **SERIES** of kits...from both Ford & Mercury. Think like a half dozen variants at least. Be patient, some people will be miserable just to be miserable, but this will tickle most everyone's boxes eventually.

Tim , Do you know if they cut a mold for a pro stock version?

I am aware that during the earliest stages of this project, extensive research was done on 1/1 scale Pro-Stock Mavs.

As to whether any of that has made it to 3D modeling development or cutting metal tooling, I do not know.  I'm sure Erik will brief us here at the appropriate time, if and when any of that were to actually become a reality ....TB

Gonna pile on the bandwagon, of "give me a Moby quality Maverick / Comet and I got the rest." Versions will come, Moby is exceptionally smart at this game. I'll throw a log on the fire and say, there wouldn't BE a newly tooled Maverick/Comet without race versions in the plan.

The JoHans were common as dirt until one afternoon... they weren't and prices went from $15 a pop to $150 and more. I mean, it was a good kit, with incredible bash potential, but c'mon. Maybe this will take some of the air out of those sails and bring them back to relative earth.

FWIW, I had an out-of-body moment at the Ford Racing Centennial back in '01.  Was walking to a concession stand when I recognized Dyno Don walking about 10 paces ahead. I already had his autograph, and even the best of them get 'peopled out' so I just let him go without a fanboy moment.

Then, an ear-splitting rumble came from around the corner: Dyno's Maverick SOHC Pro Stock, rolling into the show under its own awesome power. The driver sees Dyno; Dyno sees car. Both looked as surprised as you could be and remain standing.

Neither knew the other was heading their way... total cosmic convergence. I don't know how long it had been since Dyno saw the car, but it appeared to have been a long time, and he seemed very impressed by the condition and the sound, and a small crowd gathered immediately.

What I didn't know - noboby knew - was that Don was in the early stages of his Alzheimer's journey. Never glib, but always approachable, he struck me very reserved in the autograph sessions. But he looked as excited by the reunion as anyone in the crowd.

Agree 100%.  Aside from the Nova/Chevy II kits, I believe EVERY other car tooling that Moebius has created has had either NASCAR and/or drag race variations baked in.

Don't forget that the Chevy II tooling included a Southeast Gassers Association inspired derivative...if any of you reading this like drag cars and don't have this kit yet, IMHO you are missing out on an exceptionally well detailed and fun to build modeling project....TB

Ohh that had to be an amazing experience!

I’ll be happy with whatever Moebius conjures up for us.  The Mav hasn’t had a version on the shelves in decades, and none done to the standards that this will be.  Race, stock, or both… I will buy.

Also a note of thanks to Erik for keeping in touch with us hobbyists, and tossing out info as appropriate.  I for one appreciate it greatly.
