Fulvia is a beautiful car, so with it being 1/24 scale I think I'll have to build one. Hopefully it will have an engine though.

Yep, this is how I feel too.

I'll be getting one.

I'm more than happy to hear it's a new tool 1/24th scale kit. Frankly, I was hoping Italeri might begin to reinvest in 1/24th scale car tooling and we can only hope this Fulvia will be a success.

Excellent news ! I can see at least a couple in my 2025 build plans… Though I see they say the 1/12 range “Will be completed by…” a new version of the Bugatti 35. I wonder if that means no more new 1/12 tools in the future, or is just translation thing?

best,

M.

I would have to imagine that there's at least another livery coming for the Stratos.

Agreed that Fulvia's cool in any scale. 👍😎

Maybe Italeri might be tempted to do a  works Metro 6R4 to add to their 1/12th scale rally cars. Now that would be nice!

Night Owl said that he would like to see those old Esci/Italeri Mk2 Escort kits sent to purgatory and retools done. Well then Night Owl there is an alternative made by C1 Models in the UK worth having a look at.

Doesn't the C1 trans kits rely on the Italeri kits for the chassis bits etc?

C1 kits need that God awful Escort for the chassis and running gear. Now I know Chris offers new engines for them as well, but the point is I want rally/touring cars, not run of the mill "civilian" Mk2 Escorts.

And they can take the Abarth 131 and BMW M1 with them!!!

Easy to knock kits on here.      But if they are the only game in town for the time being ?

Forgot that C1's Escort was a standard car, but it looks darned good to me despite using the Esci running gear.

If one wants really good kits of those mentioned in the Esci/Italeri list of doom, maybe  by doing something positive about it and lobbying Nu Nu or Belkits if you want Polystyrene Plastic might be a good idea. Otherwise start lobbying some of the specialist resin outfits like Rennaissance, Le Mans Miniatures, USMC or other European makers more attuned to those types of cars. C1 might be worth approaching to make a rally version of the Escort to add to their range. If they did, I am sure they would turn out a very good replica.

personally i like the escorts. the c1 versions will be going in my stash too, but they need to do a chassis too since they replaced everything else in the kit

There are some kits where even if they are the only game in town, I still won't bother with (not including price).

I have several of the ESCI/Italeri Escorts. As a paying customer I can in fact knock them all I want, as they were mediocre when they were new and the past 45+ years hasn't done anything to help them.

Maybe I'm just in the wrong genre of the hobby because I see guys who build planes and armor get "stuck" in time periods, or even particular sides of a given war (or peace time). But I swear car modelers spend enormous amounts of energy being nostalgic about a feeling they had at some point in their childhood and as a corollary defend the model kits from those moments instead of banding together and demanding new versions - by not buying the old ones. Car modeling has to be one of the only hobbies where brand new products are sold on the same shelf with 60 yr old ones and no one blinks an eye. Imagine if the Apple Store sold rotary wall phones next to the latest iPhone and then people sat around online and talked about for how much they enjoy pulse dial and waiting until after 9pm to call long distance.

Considering how much tooling up a new kit costs, I'm not surprised that older issued kits sit along newer items.

Tastes change, and what might have been a go to kit years ago might not warrant the risk of retooling for a market that may have changed quite a bit over the years.

Nothing stopping you from knocking whatever kits you want  to James whether a paying customer of not !  Lol.

Eduard's "best ever in 1/72nd scale" P-51D Mustang has barely been on the market a year and Arma Hobby is already trying to one-up them with a new-tool "best ever in 1/72nd scale" P-51D Mustang.

Meanwhile, the newest tooling of the historic 1964 Ford Mustang is a convertible by Monogram that dates back 30 years and is a modification of a kit of the 1965 Mustang fastback that had debuted ten years prior to that. The hardtop roof 1964 1/2 Mustang, of course, is not represented in common modeling scales by anything even remotely resembling a modern kit.

We're not talking about some obscure option code or long forgotten orphan. This isn't begging for a 1/24th scale super kit of an AC3000ME or a Hudson Terraplane or an Ascari KZ1. We're saying that highly popular, common as crabgrass, everyone and their brother agrees they're classic cars like the MkII Escort deserve to be revisited with the same frequency as military kit companies COMPETE to deliver the best possible product of a given subject.

That old Escort Mk2 kit is I agree with others on here that it is in dire need of a replacement new kit by whoever. In my last posts I was not defending it, but pointing out about the consideration that a manufacturer has to make in choice of subject and project whether they will get a good return on their development and tooling up costs

As Belkits did a Mk1 Escort, chances are that with a bit of lobbying they might be inclined to make a Mk2 as that would seem logical as rally cars seem to be their thing.

At one point I thought that a 1/24th scale Metro 6R4 would never happen!     So thank you Belkits.

the escort kits always sell out. within 6 months the price on ebay doubles. the other similar rally cars just dont have the following of the escort. my local shop got 6 kits in and they were all sold in a week and they couldn't get more. luckily i already had a few of the rally and track cars as i didn't know tey were getting rereleased
