Brizio Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) Here another project that I started few months ago. It is the Jaguar XK120 made by Revell in 1994. When I was looking a the parts, on the frame/chassis piece it is printed: Monogram Models Inc. 1979. I know Monogram made a metal version of it. Maybe later they converted in plastic? The kit looks good, some of the plastic parts needs some attention. Edited December 30, 2024 by Brizio 3
Brizio Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Here where it say Monogram Models Inc. 1979. Chassis painted and start to glue rear axle. The front end was modified, the kit did not offer turning wheels. 2
Brizio Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Some progress on the body. I went with black because the car I'm making was black with red interior. 6
Pierre Rivard Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I built it with the metal body. Same as your's apart from the body material. Nice kit, chassis vintage Monogram.
Brizio Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Speacking of red interior, here the dashboard. 6

Almost bough it, but didn't because I was afraid that the body was too heavy for the chassis/suspension. After looking a the Revell, the chassis seems pretty sturdy, and thick on the inside.
dino246gt Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Looks fantastic so far and that dashboard, wow!

The kit looks good, some of the plastic parts needs some attention. They made both a kit with a metal die-cast body (everything else plastic), and the same kit with a plastic body. Same body tooling for both, which accounts for the huge mold seam running the length of the body shell. It's a great kit either way, but needs some heavy bodywork. EDIT: Beautiful work on yours, by the way. Edited December 30, 2024 by Ace-Garageguy

EDIT: Beautiful work on yours, by the way. I notice that seam on the body, tand wonderin what caused it. Usually the seams are in different part of the body. I had to sand quite a bit on the body, also on the fron of the car. Other thatn that, looks good. Thank you Bill!
Brizio Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 The engine, I add wires and detail up some parts, also added teh trumpets for the carbburetors. Will add more to it when is in the car. Like battery, that the kit does not have it. . 4

beeRS Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Great start. Will look awesome in black/red. I have this kit in my stash. I’ve been put off starting it as I thought the bonnet was a poor fit. The fit looks fine on yours though. Did you have to do much fetteling to make the fit so good?
Zippi Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 I'm really liking this build Brizio. Nice work so far.

Didn't do anything to the bonnet to make it fit. Except for sanding it before the primer. I broke off the hinge while sanding it. Maybe the hinge is slightly thinner for the job. I reinforce it, glueing a wite metal on it. I can take a hoto later. 2 hours ago, Zippi said: I'm really liking this build Brizio. Nice work so far. Thank you Bob! 1 1
absmiami Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Very nice. Fantasy junction.Com has some great pix of these cars posted on their site - and the pix stay up after sale - so you can study details on the “sold” cars section …

I already have photo of the car I'm making. I found a photo from the 50's.
Brizio Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 Engine is on the chassis. The chassis received little bit of paint to simulate the dirt. 1

Pierre Rivard Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Chassis and engine have the look of a well used car. Well done Fabrizio. Please share your methods for weathering, it's very lifelike

Please share your methods for weathering, it's very lifelike Thank you Pierre. For the chassis I used a mis of tan/brown colors. and add white or blak to make the color dark or light. Depend of the area where the car could get more dirty or not. A the end I did a wahs with some black and brown. For the engine I wanted to replicate the grime, oil etc. Here I used a mix of black/brown, and orange for the exhaust. A the end a black wash. I thin the colors so I can get more control of the area.
