I like and have owned a few El Caminos in the past, so I'll be getting a couple of those. The Chrysler 300 looks interesting so at least one will be put in the stash.

Looking at the bottom of the box parts layout on the '69 GTX, it kind of looks like a Pro Street frame to me with those tubs. Maybe I just don't know much about Mopar frames, but that's what it looks like to me. I do know there were a couple of Pro Street versions, one being a GTX and the other a Super Bee. Those of you with more knowledge than me can correct/explain.

I did a quick screen grab and it does look like the tubbed rear chassis from the PS kits. But there is also what appears to be a full width axle in the parts tree, so...?

Yea, something going on there for sure.

That's definitely a pic of the tubbed chassis but the leaf spring rear end.

The tubbed chassis uses a narrowed rear with coil-overs.

I wouldn't overthink it.  They likely used the parts layout from the previous pro street issue in error.  The kit will be the stock one this time around.

Looking at the graphic, it does look like the stock kit layout. Some of the Pro Street parts are always part of the kit, whether stock or Pro Street. The 440 engine tree with stock exhaust is shown, those pieces are never in the Pro Street boxings. It just looks like the Pro Street floor is shown in error.

Mark is correct. It's simply a graphic error that slipped through and we'll fix it for any re-orders.  We have confirmed that the stock chassis part is included in this issue of the '69 Plymouth GTX.

Thanks for the info everybody, just glad I'm not seeing things, LOL.

Thank you for the response, Steve. It seemed weird seeing the tubbed wells without the narrowed rear.

Phew, good to know! The Pro-Street chassis is good, having buit the Super Bee version back in the day, but having also built the 1968 stock RoadRunner, that stock B-Body chassis in one of the best in the business! By the way Steve, one of those two kits in the 90's (can't remember which one) came with the parts for the rare overhead cam Hemi; are those parts or molds still around?

Posted

The pro street '70 Coronet had the DOHC Hemi parts.  That kit's tubbed floorpan is different from the one used in the GTX and Roadrunner.

Aren't those still available where you live? Kit #AMT1363; here in Canada, a bunch of my online hobby shops still have some in stock. Surely your suppliers also have some left? And no, I didn't call you Shirley!!!! 🤣

I just checked and I'm out of '53 Ford P/U kits.
That's not acceptable. Every household should have at least one.

On a related note, Stevens International also has AMT’s 1957 Corvette Street Machine (The nicely detailed nineties’ “Mueller era” kit, not the ex. MPC Flipnose “Gasser”) listed as an upcoming reissue.

A nice selection of kits this month, but only the Elky interests me.  I'm sure all will find good homes.

Better Luck next month, I guess.

Presumably because it's a consistently strong seller...

Despite it's age and a few shortcomings, it's an excellent representation of the subject matter, and quite enjoyable to build.

I agree but your customer base has plenty and hobby store eBay and hobby lobby have the on sehelves. They will be at Ollie’s for 12. 99…

People should get to say what they want regarding interest in upcoming kits. But let's face it, "my wallet is safe" posts have almost become a meme since they pop up on every single one of these threads.

It's all about accumulation, a la the Collyer Brothers. Posting a comment/reply just for the sake of doing so. Adds to one's post count similar to posting all the junk someone buys but never posts pics of anything built.

That's one of the things that annoy me on IG, where people post pictures of kits and parts, but rarely a completed build.

As far as the "my wallet is safe" comments are concerned, it's a matter of builders expressing their lack of interest in regurgitated kits we've all seen for decades and may have built once, twice, or more. Some of us long for new, different subject matters, hence the rise in 3d prints.

Rather than asking these folks to keep their comments to themselves, more of those who feel this way should be speaking louder, then perhaps the kit manufacturers would listen to their customer base. Yeah, I know, wishful thinking.

Just my $2 (2 cents adjusted for inflation).

The proof is in eating the pudding.

Please read Steve Goldman's reply in the 71-72 Roadrunner tread.

BTW for a manufacturer sales is what they look at, cuz it generates the funds needed, to pay everything and remain in business.
