BKIN10SECS Posted June 20 Posted June 20 (edited) Hey guys, still working on the Galaxy just wanted to get some creative input on which intake set up to use. The block is a Mercury Racing LS7. I printed up an intake for the use of straight shorty stacks and I also printed up a cross ram long stack intake. This is just a mock up but I do like the visual impact of the cross ram stacks, but is it too much? we will see. So straight or cross ram what are you guys feeling . Thanks Jay Edited June 22 by BKIN10SECS 5 1
'70 Grande Posted June 21 Posted June 21 (edited) With your modern wheel and tire combo, I think the cross ram feels more appropriate for your build... the shorty's are good but have a more vintage vibe in my mind. Edited June 21 by '70 Grande
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Cross ram, definitely. The short stacks look good, but I think they'd work better visually in an older car ('30s-'40s-early '50s) with a smaller engine bay. The cross ram setup fills that gaping hole nicely, and suggests way-beyond-serious horsepower. If you're going for a Ridler-contender look, it's the cross ram.
Leica007 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 I think the cross ram better matches the larger body and takes advantage of the open wheel wells. Reeks of hi performance.
Misha Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Yup, cross ram for all the above reasons. Looks great by the way. Cheers Mishaps
stavanzer Posted June 21 Posted June 21 I'll join Team Crossram too. As Bill says "Too Much is Never Enough"
johnyrotten Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Crossram all the way. That car looks absolutely awesome, by the way
dino246gt Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Cool project! I do like both, but the cross-ram really does it for me.
BKIN10SECS Posted June 21 Author Posted June 21 Wow....Thanks everybody for the great input and reasoning behind your choices. What I will be trying today is putting on the short metal intakes onto the cross ram . I think it will give me a nice balance between the two....we will see. Thanks again everyone.

Can't wait to see the Photos.
dwc43 Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Short stacks are for top end where long tubes and/or cross rams are for lower bottom end torque. Wheels are too big; tires side walls are too short. this will allow you to choose based on what the car is supposed to represent.

WOW.....I can appreciate your automotive suggestions, but I like big wheels and I like short side walls!!! What this car is meant to represent is my personal and hopefully creative perspective of a simple custom restomod bro its just a model car. I'm not looking to enter this model in the GSL in the Factory Stock class and looking to win best in class. This post was to ask my fellow modelers what they liked better, short or long and I got great feedback and not to receive an opinion in what someone thinks "it should represent" you a funny guy! Geno Posted Wednesday at 12:12 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:12 AM I think the short stacks give it more visual appeal. JMHO though. It's gonna be cool regardless. 💯👍
SpeedAndViolence Posted Wednesday at 12:36 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:36 AM Definitely go with the short stacks.
