My wife has been on me to purge my phone of some of the 2000+ unused screen shot pictures I've saved. While clearing some out it made me wonder if I'm the only one who does this.

As for the subjects I actually went so far as to buy a Fast and Furious Gladiator to do the camper and I have a Tamiya Grand Cherokee waiting to someday be made into this offroader. I really love the Mayflower van because it looks like one of the transporters Ferrari used to use in the 50s.

If you're in the mood, play along and post up some inspiration pictures you've saved.

I have 2-3 different cars photos saved, and around 60 photos printed in a folder for reference on something I want to build very accurately. There's one car from my youth i can still get in person pics of, that one's on the list as well.So yes, I save references for future builds

I realize a lot of people do everything on a phone these days, but for me it's folders within folders on a computer, all organized by type of vehicle in a logic that makes sense to me, at least. I got in the habit in the early digital photo days of labeling every photo, which makes searching much easier. When I'm ready to start a build, I'll pull a folder out and park it on the desktop, maybe search for additional reference or inspiration. Just as in the physical world, if you can't find something, you may as well not have it.

For just about every kit I have, I've saved some pics for inspiration. Sometimes it's of an actual vehicle so I can get the colours and details right. Sometimes it's because I like the colour combo, or it has the right wheels, or it's just got a cool look.

Here's a few.

Absolutely. I save inspirational photos that I come across. Pinterest is a great source. Some custom stuff is even A.I. generated, but looks really cool. If the source won’t let me save the photos directly I will take a screen shot, then use “edit” to crop out all the unwanted parts.

Having been a long-time subscriber to several automotive based magazines, I have often saved the pictures and stories on the ones I liked. I have 6 good sized ring binders full of inspirations for future ideas for builds. Sadly, almost all of such publications are no longer being issued.

Got assorted folders on my computer of spiffy pics I've saved for potential model projects. Example is my "Finvettes" folder - in one eBay auction I saw where a modeler was headed with what looked like a Plymouth Fury fins appearance. Meanwhile, stealing one of the above pics (A.I.-generated, most likely) to put in my folder, but trained graphic artist that I am, I did some subtle alterations to it. '59 De Soto fins 'hoods' in the A.I. image with perhaps '58 Impala front turn signals with swapped in red flatter lenses? Might be doable. The '50s Mercedes wheel opening eyebrow is an interesting idea, I added one over the front.
