I didn't notice it was different until someone pointed it out...I guess new side trim and badging for the 150, maybe new interior parts to do a Bel Air? Interesting...

My luck is still holding out after all these years. Whenever I scratchbuild something or do a major conversion of a kit, the darned thing comes out in plastic a few months later.

Sometime, I'll tell you about the 3 months I spent and the 37 individual cuts I made in an AMT '57 Chevy to exactly duplicate the Chezoom, even scratchbuilt the wheels, and then,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Can I interest you in doing a modification of the AMT '69 Galaxie into a Mercury Marauder X100?

Speaking of Chezoom, years ago Pat Covert was thinking seriously about writing an article for the April issue of SAE "how to convert the Chezoom into a stock Bel Air" :o:lol: Now that I think about it, your conversion could have been shown in reverse chronological order, and voila!

Your tribute to Harry Charon probably still means more to you and him that you did all that work yourself vs. just a simple kitbash. Great model, for sure. And it's a 210, Revell's doing the Bel Air so it may very well have the ribbed section inside the chrome on the rear fenders.

I'm excited to see the 72'olds and the 66'impala hope that they sell lots, maybe it will open the door for more new releases in the future.I would love to see new releases of the new camaro,ZR-1 and the 2010 mustang as well, but the market is kinda flooded with variants of those kits already.

There's a ton of pent-up demand for the '66 Impala, which hasn't been seen in stock form in forever. My hope is that that kit and the Cutlass are big enough successes that they allow Revell to tool up other kits which may be popular but might not be hugely mainstream.

The Impala is a grand slam choice.

Looks like some good offerings coming from Revell...I'm particularly looking forward to the '57 Chevy. I do have a question about it, though, for those of you knowledgeable about the industry. The Bel Air has significantly different chrome trim compared to the 150: different side moldings, longer fin trim, moldings above and below the side windows, etc. Does anybody know if this is a new tool or a modification of the Black Widow 150? And if it is a modification, does that mean that the 150 is history? I remember the bad old days when AMT modified the '66 Mustang 2+2 into a funny car, along with the '65 Falcon, and that meant the stock versions were gone forever. Can anyone shed any light on what's happening here?

 '67 Fairlane  '67 Fairlane :o '67 Fairlane ;)

Gotta get at least 3!!! :P:P:P;)

Thanx Spyder....even though I did follow the link first!!

The three NASCAR Fairlanes are slot cars.

Doh some one beat me to it.

I am curious as to if anyone has seen the '32 5 window street rod yet. I saw it mentioned last month and someone had pre-orderd a 1/2 case from their LHS.

LHS had a Revell flyer that listed the '32 5W for July. I think some folks may have seen a test shot at the Milwaukee NNL. I'm gonna pre-order a couple.

I have mixed emotions seeing that Revell will release a 1966 Chevy Impala kit. It's nice to see that a plastic kit will be available of the '66 Impala but I am disappointed that I spent $50.00 for the Modelhaus '66 Impala resin kit when I could have waited and paid $25.00 for the Revell kit. The same thing happened to me back in the mid-1990's. I built the Modelhaus 1960 Impala resin kit only to see that Revell/Monogram released a kit version a few months after I finished mine. Oh well, that's the way it goes.

I'm with a few of you other guys. I'd really like to see some modern subjects.

ZR1

CTS-V

Solstice Coupe

and my list would go on and on.

There are three I'm interested in but we'll have to see when they come out and if there's room for them among my Ferrari's, Lamborghini's and the like..

Mike, I really hate to do this to ya, but those 67 Fairlanes are 1/32 scale slot cars, not 1/25 scale kits.

B)

:blink::blink::blink:;)

Yup your right Mark....Got so excited .......Oh well ;)

Donster, I'm lucky(and old enough) in that I still have both a 67 and 68 AMT Galaxies unbuilt. I'm kinda a pac rat. I've had the 67 since K'mart Blew them out in 68! The 68 I was lucky to trade for so I lucked out there too! Carruch, Ain't that the way it ALWAYS goes? Ya spend some hard earned BIG bucks for a kit, an here 20 years later, They go an pop it, at a real fair price! Oh well, NOW it'll finally get built, stead of bein grokked all the time! It'll be nice to compare the differences! ;)

So, other than taillights, what charges to the '65 Impala tooling will be necessary to convert it to a '66?

Ken, there are other changes.............The front fascia (grille, leading edge of hood) need to be changed for a '66. Also probably seat and door panel patterns were changed as well.

There would need to be a new trunk lid as the tailights weren't in the trunk as on the '65.

I like the subtle changes GM did back then as they didn't hang onto the same boring/ugly car for years on end. IIRC, GM had two year styling cycles so we had an all new car come '67. ;)

WHAT seperate trunk lid????? I've got at least 5 of those kits, convert and hardtop, and NONE of mine have seperate trunk lids. WHAT kit are you refering to??? ;)

As far as the Cutlass--I think this is the first stock Olds that Revell has ever done, as far as I can think of. I've ideas for a few...stock H/O, stock 442, ht conversion, maybe a beater..

Looking forward to 3 of the '66 Impalas (though I have the AMTs), 1 stock, 1 street, 1 Biscayne conversion with the MCW parts..

Though I have a resin Hemi Dart, I'm definitely down for another Dart variation..

Posted

Pretty sweet list of stuff coming out. I'd like to do a '66 Biscayne conversion too. I won't buy the 442 cause unlike most of you guys I prefer hardtops to convertibles. But eventually they'll probably tool a hardtop version anyhow. Is the '37 pickup a new kit or a re-issue? I don't think I've ever seen one. But I could dig on the '65 Chevy truck too. All in all a decent list but none of it has me more excited than the '32 5 window due in July. Still can't wait for that.

Any chance I could get you to build a mid 40's power wagon?

Yes, such it is...I spent $125 on a mint in box AMT '66 a few years ago, but I'm glad to see the new one also.

The 30 Ford is old tool, it is realeased under their SSP program. Revell did a 1/25 snap 57 Chevy Bel Air, I wonder if this release is a reissue of that? Nice load of kits coming out, too bad I am out of work and cant buy anyhting.

Posted
Nope. This one's a sedan; the snap kit was a hardtop. The new kit will be based on the recently released 150 utility sedan.

Ken, they will have to have done a fair amount of work on the pup to make a Bel Air from it. New interior for one, seats, side panels, wheels/hubcaps. The body would also have to have a fair amount of changes, notably the side coves and trim, and the fin top chrome.

I would have preferred seeing something a bit "sexier", say, a CONVERTIBLE (something never done in 1/25).

As to a Bel Air hardtop, it could be kitbashed from the snap kit, this kit, and a fair amount of work with a saw or two.

Just my dos centavos, mi amigos.

Now that Revell has announced the '66 Impala, I wonder who in the resin world might be first with a '66 Caprice Coupe conversion for it. Modelhaus? R&R? Missing Link? Time Machine? Place your bets folks!

WOW!!! A 66 Caprice with a 427/Turbo 400!!! Oh Man Larry you dun gone an dunnit NOW!!! Ok Guy's who'll be the first one? And sign ME up for 2(or 3....)

RMR does a nice resin '46 Powerwagon and Ertl did a nice diecast one.

Too much work, since AMT has the nice new tool '57...which they should reissue. A convertible or Nomad would be nice, though!

Tom Carter has posted some additional comments on his board regarding the latest news from Revell. Here are some of the highlights.

"The ’60 Chevy will have new optional wheels.

The ’37 Ford pickup will apparently include a stock grille as well as a custom grille, and the custom one may be what’s suggested on the artwork in the new flier.

The ’57 Chevy tool was designed to be able to run this kit as well as the 150 (BW), so the 150 will be able to be run again. BTW, don’t even think about buying the new kit and then claiming the rear seat was missing. The folks at Revell weren’t born yesterday.

The ’66 Chevy will undoubtedly borrow the ’65’s chassis, but the rest will be brand new as there’s nothing else that’s shared.

The ’30 Ford Phaeton will include some trick new street rod parts.

If you want to see variants of the ’72 Cutlass, then buy the heck out of this one to show them there’s a market for more."

Update on the latest Revell announcements

On a related note, for those who already have the Revell 150 (BW) kit, Modelhaus offers a very nice 4 dr sedan conversion kit, a separate back seat to convert the 2dr Utility into a Standard 150 and correct Dog Dish caps.
