johnwitzke Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Hoping for a 1963 Pontiac Lemans Coupe will come along after the convertible as I have decals for all six SD 421 cars.
Mr mopar Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I was hoping for a '70 Duster 340 back dated from AMT's Duster kit
1930fordpickup Posted October 23 Posted October 23 (edited) Maybe a Mack Jr from that cab to go along with the semi if sales go well. Unless the Cavs were different but most were the same back then. Not a semi truck guy for the most part , but this Mack is great news for the hobby. I believe this is the wrong year truck for a Mack JR. Bummer. Pretty safe bet. The convert and coupe are identical from the roof down, or so close it doesn't really matter. R2 did this for the Coronets, so I'd guess the same thinking applies here. Hoping for some nice, crispy chrome to come out of the project to help save an annual or two - the thin blade bumpers are very fragile.
Mark C. Posted Friday at 02:43 PM Posted Friday at 02:43 PM Just want to say thanks to Steve G. and crew at R2 for all of these amazing announcements! The amount of discussion here is an indication of the excitement generated by these releases. This is very good for the hobby. My biggest problem is having the patience to wait for them! 👍🏻 2
DJMar Posted Friday at 07:12 PM Posted Friday at 07:12 PM I already can think of at least 2 versions of the '60 Nomad I want to build. Also, the '04 GTO is a pleasant surprise. Haven't seen that kit on the shelves in ages. I better start saving my pennies. 1

I am pretty sure they are very appreciated by the Round 2 crew...TIM 2 1

John M. Posted Saturday at 09:07 PM Posted Saturday at 09:07 PM (edited) One of the skilled modelers here can build the 63 Mack into the power plant that provided electricity to Barter Town from "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" Edited Saturday at 09:07 PM by John M. 1 1
bytownshaker Posted Sunday at 12:15 AM Posted Sunday at 12:15 AM I have no interest in the Mack but I'm Very Happy for the truck modelers to get a brand new truck release.
Spex84 Posted Monday at 12:02 AM Posted Monday at 12:02 AM I'm not a big truck guy at all...but that Mack is cool! Very photogenic trucks.
iBorg Posted Monday at 02:22 AM Posted Monday at 02:22 AM Is the Duster based off of the AMT Duster or a modified version of the MPC? I can't tell from the pics although I know that interior bucket isn't the original MPC.
Fabrux Posted Monday at 10:56 AM Posted Monday at 10:56 AM The Duster shares the same basic tooling as the new Demon. There are pictures of earlier test shots that show the new parts in primer while the Demon ones are white plastic. 1
unclescott58 Posted Tuesday at 02:35 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:35 PM The ‘63 LeMans convertible and the ‘72 Duster interest me. And I’ll probably get both. I’m assuming the ‘72 Duster is a modified version of their ‘71 Duster kit. From looking at the decal sheet, it’s obvious they changed to correct longer ‘72 taillights. The other change I hope they know to make is to the dashboard/instrument panel. The ‘72 Dusters and Demons went away from ‘67-‘69 Barracuda style dashboard they used in ‘70 and ‘71, to plain the dashboard/instrument cluster used in other Valiant and Dart models of that year. I hope they keep the under-dash factory air conditioning unit found in the newer ‘71 Duster kits. I like my rides to be cool. In more ways than one.

Actually, the '72 Duster kit is based on the MPC '71 Demon 'new tool' from last year (which is designed like the old MPC Demon/Duster tooling).

I just finished building the new ‘71 Demon in the last week (I need to post pictures). What a wonderful kit. So I’ll be pleased if the ‘72 is based off that kit. Though no factory air conditioning with it. In my imagination, I’ll just have to sweat the summers out driving in these cars. Or imagine they have air, even though they don’t.
tim boyd Posted Tuesday at 05:46 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 05:46 PM Somewhere else I saw a picture posted this week of a 1970 Plymouth Sport Fury GT diecast just introduced in 1/64th scale by Round 2. Makes me wonder, if Round 2 was going to invest in as-yet unannounced new tool, would the overall business case/resulting sales (both initial and longer term) favor a '72 RR body clone or an all-new, moderately full detail 1970 Sport Fury GT? Even as recently as five or ten years ago, I would have laughed at that comparison. These days, it seems (based in part on the Moebius experience) that all-new kits of 1/25th scale topics that have never been available in kit form before, represent a viable business opportunity even when replicating relatively obscure 1/1 scale automotive topics. A 1970 Sport Fury GT would certainly fit that description, but even that topic seems to be attracting a lot more interest among the 1/1 Moparisti than it might have 5 or 10 years, much less back in the day, and what goes in 1/1 soon follows in 1/25th. Not only that, but the possible future derivatives (1969 and 1970 Polara 440 Magnum Police Interceptors in various liveries, as just one example). Hmmm./// If it were my money on the line, I'd still tend go with the less expensive '72 RR clone vs the more capital- and workload-intensive all-new tool 1970 Sport Fury GT, but this is just a [theoretical] example of the discussions the kit makers need to have today when considering future tooling plans and budgets.... TB
Rob Hall Posted Tuesday at 05:54 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:54 PM The AW Sport Fury diecast is sweet...I have it in all 3 colors. Would love to see one in 1/25th.

TB It all boils down to buying power, who buys plastic model kits of automotive subject matter. Sort the customers by age, preference and expected lifespan 😉

The grille is not quite right. It should totally flat from one end to the other. The AW Sport Fury GT die cast dips in front of headlamps. Making it look more like a ‘69 Caprice with the optional hidden headlamps, than a ‘70 Sport Fury. Beyond that, it looks pretty good.
