oldcarfan Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I often do screen shots of things that might make a good build. They go into my phone or computer for possible later use. I was wondering if there is a a place for ideas we might want to share with others looking for a new or different project. This is one that caught my eye while looking up something the other day. With the release of the Mobius ramp truck and AMT's always available ramp truck kit, I'm thinking Vasek Polak's old hauler might make a cool build with a tasty vintage racer on the back. 1

There is now, if we just add to the thread...or maybe the mods could pin this great idea??? Please. 1

So many potential builds ideas out there, not enough time to get to them all. Gleaned this image from a Youtube link in another MCM thread, a neat potential build. Misha Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I also latch onto build ideas while roaming the web and collect the images into their own album to keep them in mind for the future. Here are the top samples from it… A fairly straight forward conversion with the possibility of a detailed interior. A couple of Bugs that couldn’t be much more different. Certainly a much more involved scratch build for which I’ve found more detailed photos in a magazine. An interesting build while still retaining a hot rod presence underneath. A couple of worthwhile replica builds, the MG-TC that was Shelby’s first competition drive and Petty’s 43JR during the NASCAR boycott when he went straight line racing. Interested in other ideas that modelling can present… Cheers Misha 1 1
NOBLNG Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) This whole forum is a place for build ideas.🙂 I started a thread for inspirational photos (real or fake) of trucks. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/203500-trucks-i’d-like-to-build😎/ Edited November 7 by NOBLNG 3
Goose1957 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I always thought this truck and camper top would be cool to build. Jeff 2 1
oldcarfan Posted November 11 Author Posted November 11 I saw a car back in August that might make a good project for someone looking to do some fun imagineering or a slump buster. I couldn't get a good shot but today I came across the car on Reddit. The first two pictures are from me and the other two are from the Reddit link. If you haven't seen the Tornados movie, there's some really cool tornado chasing trucks. I'm thinking the Revell Raptor might look pretty nice done up like this. 1
Trainwreck Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Here's one for an adventurous scratch builder, the AMX3. There's a treasure-trove of info on line, look it up. 3

89AKurt Posted Sunday at 01:08 AM Posted Sunday at 01:08 AM Dann Tier Figgens was scratch-building a Isedra, which was one I toyed with. Just post pictures of different, rare, unique such as already started here. The '50 Chevy pickup can be modified so many ways. Ice cream vendor, my Canopy Express, four door cab, extended cab, dually, 4x4, Suburban, there was a Panel resin body, semi trucks had various versions, COE, ramp truck, on and on for just one kit. 😊 This Woodie GMC is super rare. 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted Sunday at 01:26 AM Posted Sunday at 01:26 AM This has been one of my favorite vehicles for some time now. Only 5 were ever built. https://www.blessthisstuff.com/stuff/vehicles/misc/1954-international-harvester-r140-woody-wagon/ Already have a decent diecast pickup for a starting point... 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted Sunday at 01:33 AM Posted Sunday at 01:33 AM There's a rough and rusty one of these about a block from me, and I've posted pix of it before. I'd considered buying it just to get it out of the weather, but that's no longer a viable idea. https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2008/06/1938-ford-tow-truck-ford-able-service.html Anyway, it sure would make a striking model. The COE cab with fenders is available in resin (I have one). 2

JollySipper Posted Sunday at 11:57 PM Posted Sunday at 11:57 PM I just learned of this car today. It's a Ferrari 'Thomassima II' based on a 330 (I believe?)...... I almost, almooooooooostt like it better than the Coyote X! 2

Some identifiable GM parts on there but my guess would be a custom, beginning with a 61-65 Corvair pickup. Since this is a clip file for inspiration, if I was to do it in scale, I'd begin with a Lindberg Dodge A100 and go the Mopar route. Edited yesterday at 02:26 AM by Lunajammer 1

I wonder if it is Corvair based? There doesn't seem to be enough room for a front engine so it's probably mid or rear engine.
