G'Day again,

Time for another one. Revell's 55 Chevy coupe, the usual lowering with Pegasus wheels & resin brakes. Otherwise built box stock (no wiring, too lazy....) Paint is a custom mix of Tamiya Racing white with a dash of orange. Flames are tamiya Red and Orange. Followed up with a light coat of pearl clear, then some not so light buckets of 2K clear. The interior is 3 tone tan in Tamiya acrylic. This car caused me considerable trauma... actually I shouldn't blame the car. Not an hour after it was finished, I accidentally knocked the hood off, only for it to be instantly snapped up in the waiting jaws of Dexter, my dog..... Result was one badly mangled hood! Luckily I had left over paint and was able to straighten & fill the hood & repaint it. It's a half shade out in colour and is now missing the chrome hood ornament, but I'm happy to have saved it! Needless to say, Dexter is not allowed near my models again!

Anyway, enjoy!

I wouldn't call you lazy if you masked off those flames. It all looks great and nosed would be my way also, rather than doing a "Dexter search" for the ornament! :D

Probably one of the sexiest 55s out there... That car is amazingly beautiful, the flames are great and, sorry, but I think your dog did you a favour - that hood looks great without that ornament on it :D Not a fan of oversized wheels neither, but this 55 just wouldn't be what i t is if it had some smaller rollers on it ;)

Thanks guys, appreciated!

Dex did force my hand on the hood ornament. I was actually intending to remove it, but my laziness told me "bugger it, too much filling, leave it on!" In the end I had to do a hell of a lot more filling!

Marc, I make the masks myself, my email is in my profile if you want more info.

There's also a how to video on the forum - Here

Thanks again!

Beautiful job. I had a 1:1 with the same paint job, but it was a sedan not a hard top, until someone hit me in the rear and pushed me into the car in front making me a "sandwich" I do still have it though. Hopefully one day I will resurect it!
