Chris C Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 G'Day guys! You may have seen this one acting as the guinea pig for my flame video. It's Model Kings 59 Chrysler Imperial. A very simple kit as far as parts count goes, must've only used about 12 bits! Just the way I like it. The body has had a bunch of chrome, handles and badges removed and a bit of sink mark filling. Paint is Tamiya Spray lacquers run through the airbrush. Body is white, flames are a mix of a few shades of metallic blues, followed up with Tamiya pearl clear then a bucket of 2K clear. The roof panel fades from dark blue at the pillars to light blue in the centre (a bit subtle for the camera) Wheels are pegasus, brakes are from a dead rally car the pinstripes & numberplates I made myself, "suspension" was by Dremel. Anyway, enjoy & thanks for looking!

Dr. Cranky Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 What a stunner! Beautiful job! The colors are perfect!
David G. Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 A beautiful paint job on beautiful car. David G.
mikelo Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Wow! Very nice. I will have to get one of those! Great job on the flames. Mike
whale392 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I love the old 'D' bodies. The late 50s-mid 60s Imperials are a nice, well built road tank, and your build makes it a viable street rodded/pro-touring candidate!
george 53 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 VERY nice job,for sure! A flamed out Imperial is NOT an everyday sight!!! Nice clean paint on that rascal too, just a VERY nice car period! Looks GOOD!!!!
Sixties Sam Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 That is definitely cool! The flames give the old land yacht a whole new personna! Great concept, very well done! Sam
Mooneyzs Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Very Nice!! Great looking paint job and flames. Is the Video posted in the how to section?? I would like to know see and know what you use to mask them. I have a project coming up that I want to flame and was thinking of using bare metal foil. Actually trying to copy a car out of a magazine.
Chris C Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 Thanks, guys! Had a good time on this one. No alclad used here, all out of the box chrome with some black washes. Mooneyzs, the video is in the how to section, I think a page or so in.
Hakan ERYILMAZ Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 (edited) Super paint work.Perfecto +++++ Edited March 12, 2011 by Hakan ERYILMAZ
Kanedge Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Mr Flame is back! I love it Chris, the shape of this car is very cool, you have now made me want one. The only thing you need to work out now is pinstriping your flames
charlie8575 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Usually not my thing, but the paint work is outstanding, and the color combination looks great. Try taking a couple of pictures of it outside; it might help the camera pick up the color shift better. Charlie Larkin
