Danno Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Hot diggity dawg! Issue# 161 arrived today! Cover looks great! The issue showcases builds of a pair of Model Factory Hiro Ferrari F40s by Alex Kustov, a buildup of the Hemi Dart by Carsner & Coulter, a feature on trailers by Tim Boyd, bubble-topping the upcoming Moebius Chrysler 300 by some guy named Jairus, how-to articles by Mark Jones and Scott Colmer, kit reviews by Larry Greenberg, resin reviews by Mark Taylor, another great truck column by Tim Ahlborn, and a great feature article about the history of (and behind-the-scenes at) Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland by Darin Bastedo. Awesome issue! Can't talk or type more, gotta get back to studying it! Great Issue!!! (Although the editor misspelled Alex's name!)
Chuck Most Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Good enough to harm an emoticon it appears! Looks like I'll be getting mine pretty shortly.
RodneyBad Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Awesome!! My LHS called me today to tell me it was in
Gregg Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 typos? Moi? I makes no misteaks... Sorry, Alex! I'll give myself a whippin' for that....
Danno Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 typos? Moi? I makes no misteaks... Sorry, Alex! I'll give myself a whippin' for that.... Since it was on the cover, I figured it was the art editor! LOL.
peekay Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I live in Switzerland and got issue No.160 yesterday. Didn't realize we were so far away over here.
Darin Bastedo Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I live in Switzerland and got issue No.160 yesterday. Didn't realize we were so far away over here. Yeah you are, but I imagine the great skiing, cheese and chocolate make up for it.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Sweet, I can't wait to receive it. More eye candy to be had!
sjordan2 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Superb issue, received in perfect condition. Great build journals, tutorials, reviews and commentary.
High octane Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I'll have to check it out at my LHS and also the previous issue too.
LAone Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 guess i gotta ask the wife to swing by the LHS again...
peter31a Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I live in Switzerland and got issue No.160 yesterday. Didn't realize we were so far away over here. Sheesh I live in Canada which is a lot closer to Denver than Switzerland and I'm still waiting for #160! I said tongue in cheek when everybody started posting about #160 that I would probably have it to read mid-September. It seems like I was inadvertantly right. Oh well at least I have the forum...
kelson Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Same deal here in western canada, waiting for issue#160 to arrive, but i've got models to build to keep me busy.
crazyjim Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Magazine subscribers should get their copies before the LHS. Where's my copy of #161?

Two words "Canada Post"
peter31a Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Yeah you're probably right Darin but some things they are real quick with. E-Bay purchases usually show up fairly quickly but it takes them a month or more to deliver a magazine.
VW Dave Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Is #161 the issue with the NNL East coverage?
Gregg Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Magazine subscribers should get their copies before the LHS. Where's my copy of #161? Please stop with the "My hobby shop got their copy before me" threads. I have posted the reason for this probably a dozen times. It don't work that way. You get six guys in your zip code drop zone to subscribe, you will be the first to get it. if not, yell at the post office's rules and regulations. Sorry, I always get a little off the handle with this topic that comes up every time. We don't print 100,000 copies and don't have the demographics that allows the big mags to reach everyone at the same time. It's the post office, and of course, the lack of subscribers in your area. Sorry, I pau.... And don't get me started on Canada/overseas subs......
Jeff Johnston Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I just got an issue a couple weeks ago, with the 1/12 sprint car on the cover. I assume this must have been 160.
PatRedmond Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 (edited) The Big Kahuna "And don't get me started on Canada/overseas subs......" But.....but.....but...... Edited September 9, 2011 by PatRedmond
David G. Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Another excellent issue. I especially enjoy the Scratchbuilding School section. Thanks, David G.
peekay Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 And don't get me started on Canada/overseas subs...... I guess my post could read as a complaint but it was meant as an observation - sorry if it wrankled a bit. I can well understand the logistics of getting a low-volume publication to far flung places like Switzerland. The fact is I'd never noticed before that MCM arrived late and it doesn't/won't bother me in the slightest. It's not like it's a newspaper that's worthless the next day. On the contrary, I collect and treasure every copy - the quality, particularly of the photography and design (but even the grade of paper) outclasses anything else I get in the mail.
