I see a lot of anti Ebay sentiment on this fourm. Why? I use Ebay to buy old kits that are oop, new kits my LHS cant get (japanese kits mostly) and sometimes decals that are oop also. I also use it to sell junk to buy more hobby stuff. I always spend 60 bucks or so in my LHS ever month on supplies and media materials. So i am keeping them in buisness. I would never buy a kit that sells for 20 plus 10 shipping on ebay and pass on the LHS price of 25. Also it hurts the LSH just as much as using a 40% coupon to get that kit from the big hobby box store. I dont hear anybody complainig about that one.

Personally, I love ebay. I've had a few bad experiences but overall the good of getting old stuff and scoring deals has far outweighed the bad. The biggest thing about ebay is knowing how to use it and knowing when you are close to overpaying for something, the few times I've been screwed I mostly did it to myself by either not reading the description thoroughly enough or overpaying for something by not knowing the market value of it.

Ebay been berry berry good to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me, too. I've had maybe two bad buyers in over a decade buying and selling there, and over 1600+ transactions. Paying 12% for worldwide exposure is a teeny-tiny price to pay, and really, nothing else can compare.

I have been a member on ebay for a very long time, I have only had a few transaction that went wrong, but the sellers made everything right.

Ebay has been great to me, and I will continue to use ebay

As a seller, its not so great, thats why I dont sell that often on ebay

Just with anything else, you need to do your home work before buying from sellers, check their feedback, always read the fine print if you will in the listings, but of course, there are always going to be those bad apples , but thats like that with all things in life when dealing with the public

I'm a regular Ebayer, but I've only had one issue since I've been a member. I've recently learned it's cheaper sometimes to get small lots of kits than just getting a single one. :)

I just bought the new Simil'R Ford GT off eBay at a discount. I buy most of my vintage skateboards there as well. There are deals, you just have to be patient and diligent.

That is almost becoming the case, you know sellers are trying to make money on shipping when their shipping charge is more then having a kit shipped from Japan or somewhere overseas .

Ebay isok just the fee's they charge are a little high in my opinion .

What's better than ebay? What other onlne site has the selection, the exposure?

Answer: none.

They are what they are, fees and all. If you want to buy or sell something, there's no better way to do it, IMO. Yeah, you can go through craigslist or others... but as far as global reach, volume, selection.... there's nobody doing it better than ebay.

I like ebay. Been using it since 1999. Many, many transactions both buying and selling. It had changed alot since I first began and in my opinion much better for buyers than for sellers.

as long as you know what you want to pay, that means shipping too.. its not so bad,, I've used it a lot,,some shipping on there is

old of this world,,but thats what you have to look at also....

I love Ebay and watch it often. Ebay is a tool that connects people (buyers and sellers) and your expeirience depends on the other person to do their part. Ebay has been doing a great job of weeding out those people that don't and eventually removes them from the sight. Plus they are a buisness and have a right to charge their fees. They are upfront about the fees they charge to use them. Much like the Barret and Jackson auctions. They get the top buyers and the record braking auction prices so the have the fees that go along with it.

It can be addicting...I've been on eBay for over 15 years, it's been my primary source for old kits, old diecast, random electronics, resin parts, resin kits, etc. Only had a couple transactions (out of over 1000) go sideways but they got resolved. Never sold anything, only bought. And with PayPal, it's so easy...just a few clicks. Glad they got rid of money order only sellers...that was a real pain in the butt back in the day. Biggest annoyance are their frequent site redesigns..

My only real gripe with it is how sellers charge for shipping. I get that there are fees which need to be covered, and that it can be a pain to sell, but when the shipping is double or even triple actual cost in an effort to make up that lost profit...forget it.

Then again, if there were a top 100 list of the worlds worst conformists to the consumerism mentality, I'd very likely be on it...so my opinion may not be much to go by. :D
