From last month's local toy show: Original JoHan '66 Toronado promo with factory paint (either Trumpet Gold or Sienna Mist, I'm not sure what it's supposed to be). Very nice, undamaged, only a couple tiny scratches in the paint, and the interior appears to be molded in black. Only glitch is that most of the chrome is gone from the top surface and the right side of the rear bumper--you know how thin JoHan's chrome was and how easily it wore off or just disappeared. This one's so nice I might just clean it up real good and leave it unmolested.

I think that's what I would do with it.

I'm not much of a Toronado fan, but if I was going to build one, I'd look for the kit.

This promo should be left alone if you ask me.

That being said, I might send off the chrome parts for re-plating if it were mine.

Hit the antique mall earlier. Lots of kits there this time. I should go back and take some pics, see if anyone here wants them.

Anyway, found these, talked to the seller and got them two for one. So $12CDN. The Ferrari is missing instructions, the Corvette has been primed, otherwise, all is complete.

I assume you mean the '66, as the '69 chassis would be 3" too short. If you're going with a full-detail chassis, you probably want a full-detail engine, too, and that pretty much narrows you down to AMT '66 Riviera. If you want one of those old-school engines from the '66 Skylark dirt tracker, I can probably fix you up.

Yes I plan to use the '66 chassis. I found a '62 Electra 225 that has an apparently stock (at least a single 4v carb) engine. Unfortunately, it has a funky transmission so I might have to do a tranny swap. If all fails, I might take you up on the dirt car engine. Thanks.

Santa (cleverly disguised as a USPS employee) came early!  Moebius '65 Comet and '72 Ford pickup arrived yesterday.  Also some paint & other supplies.  Off-topic: the Fat Guy also dropped off an aircraft kit I've wanted to see for decades - the Kitty Hawk 1/32 scale P-39 N/Q Airacobra.  With full gun bay, interior and ENGINE detail.  I recently sold a Special Hobby 1/32 P-39 on eBay, which made me feel a little better.  And the Kitty Hawk kit was discounted. Excuses, excuses...

Wow. Nice stuff. Seems like line expanding, but vintage toy stuff looks great. They've got Breitling 1/72 Stearman decals too. Thanks for posting that.

id restore it if it were mine Snake....promos are little pieces of time and history to me. I have this one but the roof and glass are missing other than for that it would have been perfect...shame.  I like the Toronado cars myself..my first 1 to 1 car was a 72 great car.

That Toronado is very nice. I have a collection of unbuilt ones myself. If it were mine, if it were not pristine, I would dress it up like Jay Leno's car, but as a replica stock. I may do that to my '66.

You sure buy a lot of weird / funky subject matter.

I'm really liking the Heller Talbot kit.

LOL, thanks!

I guess it depends on where you grew up. Those Renaults were rather ordinary subject matter where I'm from.
But those Talbots sure were posh anywhere and I hadn't even heard of a Peterbilt before Convoy came to the cinemas.

I went to a local toy and model show Sunday and the place was packed . prices were really reasonable on the items I did buy . The 58 Ford was skirted and door handles shaved and the paint was really heavy and chrome weak but for 20 bucks it cleaned up good enough to do something with ...also 2 Johan wagons, a 61 Dodge resin kit with original glass tossed in, 67 Corvair , Bobby Allison Monte Carlo and  2 beater Ala Karts for $4.00 for parts.

Nice one James, as you've seen my  resin kit. Can you get any other parts, chassis, etc?
