ewetwo Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Just got this in the mail today to re-create my aunt and uncle's Corvette. Theirs was a 1972 but I think the body didn't change much if at all. He will point them out to me if there were some. LOL. Plus the few 1972 roadster kits I saw on eBay looked like they were red plastic. I just never have good luck covering colored plastic. Funny thing. The sender tried fitting the kit into a USPS envelope that was the consistency of a paper bag. But the kit's box was too large and they couldn't seal the flaps. So they slid it bagged kit onto a USPS's box. I lucked out there. Good thing Revell kit boxes run larger than most AMT boxes. 5
oldcarfan Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 I got these in yesterday. I love the 944, and couldn't resist the 911's price. The Super Cub is a really neat little kit and cheap! 1
Mike C. Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Got some resin 4x4 parts off of ebay. Moving ahead with the Chevy4x4 Coke truck . Already had a I'll fitting differential break, casing me to have to glue it before trying to fit everything together. The kit comes with 2 differentials, 4 leafsprings,a transfer case, 4 axle tubes and various spring perches. I'll let that dry before I continue.
Mike C. Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 (edited) Just won this 1/12 motorcycle junkyard on eBay. Pays to act quick. I love kit bashing motorcycles. Edited August 23, 2023 by Mike C. 1

Nice score, however those are Revell kits and are 1:8 scale and not 1:12. The Drag bike is particularly hard to find as well.
Mike C. Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Seller said it was 1/12. Thats ok, I have even more 1/8 bikes to bash with. I did recognize the drag bike as one that tends to get a little pricy. That one should build up nicly with some shorter forks. Im loving that sportster tank, it looks like the tank and frame from the L.A. Street chopper. ? 1
atomicholiday Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Mail call. Those old tires did a little damage to one of the clear parts and the decals. Decals would be shot anyway. On the upside, it’s complete and unstarted. Black and red parts are even still bagged. 6
Dpate Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 (edited) So went back out of town too Ollie’s, and checked hobby lobby. Got another truck and picked up the coke truck. Found the rover hidden in a buggy at hobby lobby. Also went to hobby town, and they had the rat fink transtar. He wanted $78 for it, and I’m like yeah this dude is nuts. Can buy it $50 from Amazon all day, and $40 from hobbylinc. Edited August 24, 2023 by Dpate 2

iamsuperdan Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Earlier this week, I stocked up. Tamiya sanding sponges Tamiya paints and primers Some decal setting stuff AMT 2021 Bronco X2 Tamiya GMA T.50 Tamiya Porsche 911 GT1 (I have four of these now, not sure why I keep picking them up) And I picked up a small pen sander/grinder. Should make smoothing 3d printed bodies a little less tedious. 1

Engine 51 Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 This is way outside of my wheelhouse, but thought I would try something different. Will be finished in Deltron DBC Vapor Blue. Undecided about adding stripes, if I do, they will be silver. 3
Mittagskind Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 This Ebay shot came today so that the work won't end. 1
Mike C. Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Just got back from HL. Picked up this first gen. Revell Bronco. I just ordered the Sandblaster kit with the cool trailer and dune buggy. I figured, if I ever built a first gen Bronco, it would be with the full roof. So I suppose the half cab one will be up for trade later. Please PM me if interested. 1
Carmak Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 I was talking to person at a local cruise night last month and he told me he built one Mopar model a year when he was a kid. He called me a couple days ago to tell me he found them. I picked them up today. One a year from 60 to 64. The 60 and 63 are going directly to the survivor display case. The 61 and 62 (and the 63) need a couple parts. The 64 looks like it got dropped so it will need a little resto work. 6

RSchnell Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Not that I need any more kits, grabbed these at Hobby Lobby. The '67 Corvette is one of the best Midyear kits out there-in my opinion! 3
#1 model citizen Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 My girlfriend was thrilled to find these models issued in tin boxes for me!I won this in the raffle at the Mid Iowa modelers Expo NNL4 show last weekend. I gave it to my girlfriend. ?I also got these at the show. The Plymouth fills the hole in in my “USA Oldies” Mopar collection. The Highway Pioneers kit is 1904 Rambler. I picked up the ’36 Ford chopped top as I have an issue of that kit that didn’t come with this top. 1

Classicgas Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Had a pair of hobby lobby gift cards so picked this up. 4
atomicholiday Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Must have been “race car day” at the junk shop. Also stopped by Ollie’s on the way home and picked up the ‘40 Ford. 4
carrucha Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 I have been looking for Revell's 1963 Impala SS. The prices on ebay are outrageous. Yesterday I went to the Goodguys show in Pleasanton, CA and bought one off a vendor for $35 that was selling diecasts and model car kits. It was a little bit more than what I usually pay for a kit but way cheaper than ebay. The kits on ebay were going for $50 to $100. 1
OldNYJim Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Hit a local swap meet today - they had a decent number of kits (mostly at standard eBay / retail prices), but I spotted a box of ‘junk’ at one table: Right away I knew I wanted the Tijuana taxi…guy told me it was a George Barris kit…then pulled out some more boxes of ‘junk’…told me he wanted a buck a car “with as many of the pieces as you can find”…ended up with half a Tijuana Taxi and a TD Garbage Truck: A couple of salvageable 40s: And a lot of an Aurora Drop Out bus, plus a T body that he didn’t charge me for: Plus, I found one of my grail kits (but not such a grail that I would’ve paid eBay prices for one right now) - the old AMT XR6 (complete, I think, and $12) And I dropped another eight on these two: Plus found a bunch of late-80s early 90s Scale Auto Enthusiast mags for 50 cents a piece…pretty decent haul of old junk that I dragged home! 3

A lot of Revell stuff is spiking in price--I think it's the stuff that ended up in China. Thinking is that we won't see them again, at least anytime, soon. Revell's Sox and Martin 'Cuda typically goes for more than the Johan kit, now. The '67 Camaros and '67 Charger are both pretty high, too. The Charger can be found, relatively reasonably priced, but the Camaros rarely go for less than about $80. I've been watching them, hoping to find a relative bargain, on either. I'm not in any huge hurry, so there's that, on my side. 1
