I went to the Super September Showdown in Gilbertsville, PA. There was an active sales area so I was able to grab a few things I had been looking for. I wanted a Phantom Vickie to supplement an unfinished kit that I own. They had done a nice job painting the body and interior, but someone had stolen the chassis and engine from that kit. So I was looking for a kit, and found this one for $5. The owner was quick to point out that it was missing the wheels and tires, no problem!

And once I got it home to inspect, I found a complete Chevy six from the 1960 pickup kit inside in it's own plastic bag! So add one engine I like from that five dollar bill.

Another vendor had this small bag of parts just marked as you see. I quickly recognized it had the flathead six, one of my favorite engines I've been hoarding to build old mopars! It also had the complete later model V8 minus the chrome valve covers and air cleaner. So two nice engines for $3.

And I grabbed up this Chrysler Cirrus promo for $15. I've paid a lot more for one of these.

IMG_1226-vi.jpg

I now have a few of these, both the Cirrus and the Stratus models. They are so well done and in plastic. It's a shame that Brookfield is no longer around. And as luck has it, they did both the Cirrus and Stratus, but not the matching Plymouth Breeze. We've owned two of those, so I'm hoping to do a conversion. This one is just too pretty to break up, the dark cherry color is just perfect. So I'll be looking at the others I own.

All in all, I got off pretty cheap for being at a swap meet. I did buy everything I saw that I wanted and only spent $23. It just shows that I already have way too much stuff!

So today was a very eventful day with boxes galore showing up via the U.S. Postal Service and FedEx...

First up from Taiwan - stole this for about 1/3rd of what it usually sells for, benefits of the auction ending mid-afternoon in China, and my being a niteowl...

Also on the Postal Truck were two separate SAL boxes from HLJ. I sent an e-mail asking them to combine this into one large box with all three kits in it (the shipping was the same), but they packed them up and blew them out the door faster than the time change could handle.

FedEx actually showed up a few hours before the mail did, and they brought along HobbyLink Japan. Decals - the Tabu ones are for the 4 Hours Brasilia 1996 race. They are for the Fujimi McLaren F1 GTR "Short Tail". The Studio 27 Carbon Fiber decals go to three Fujimi kits - Top Row McLaren MP4-12C, McLaren F1 GTR "Short Tail", and beside the Tabu - BMW Z4 GT3.

If it's not too much trouble, would you mind doing a review/pics, of the Fujimi Transporter? I'm very interested in getting 1 or 2 & would love to know if it's worth it?

Cheers Cliff

I am also very interested to see just what is inside that box. Looks to be a very cool kit.

Got this off of ebay...cheap. I know there's probably not a huge interest in aircraft here on the forums, but check out the size of the decal sheet! Although, there are 5 versions of the plane to choose from, but most of the decals are common to all versions. They're almost as big as the box(21"x9 1/4")! It has the cargo interior, so the plane can be build with the rear open as well as the front nose in the up position with the nose gear lowered, and ramp extended.

Give me a couple of days, it's a little on the moist side beyond the confines of my basement. Once I get a sunny day (Friday allegedly) I'll take some photos. The thing is obviously pretty big, and it'll overwhelm the area on my bench I normally shoot photos.

No rush... Just curious as to what's in the kit ?

The post office delivered the AMT 1927 Model T Ford touring car kit that I won on eBay a couple of days ago. It was brand new still in the plastic, of Ertl's first release of that kit back in 1988. Open up the box (destroying the value) and started doing some sub assembly. Seems to be a simple but nice kit. I like it.

I am very happy today. I've been trying to get a 1959 Mercury promo for over a year. Each time I bid on one on EBAY I get outbid with the prices going over $100. I did my usual EBAY search earlier and lo and behold there was a brand new listing for a complete, built, with an interior, Craftsman kit with a Buy It Now price of $60 + $8 shipping. I snapped it up instantly. Just yesterday I received $63 in my PayPal account from a sale so I only had to lay out $5. WoooHooo...!!!

Made a little trip to Model Empire this morning. Since they're not a "preferred Revell seller", I had to wait to get the '70 Torino. But, I saved at least a few dollars over regular retail elsewhere. Also got the Tamiya Alpine. I've been eyeing those for a bit on ebay and bought it for around the same as the cheaper ones there minus the shipping. Since someone here built one earlier this year and posted it I just had to have one myself. And finally, some paint...Grabber Orange for the Torino and Mica Blue for the Alpine. I always grab 2-3 cans of the Wet Look Clear too when available. Love that stuff.
