Wow! I have never seen that one! Lucky Duck! And Happy Early Birthday!

Yes it's the first one I've ever seen too, and it 's a large scale 1/32nd which is even more interesting!

Well it's opening time as my birthday is here as are both the kits I was after!

Th first one as previously mentioned was this.................

SAM_3543_zpswpdpvilx.jpg

made in 1976 and in perfect condition, Tomorrow I will scan the decals and spray them in 2 coats of clear gloss, to stop them falling apart when dipped into warm water, but if they do fall apart I have a copy to print onto clear decal paper. All of the plastics will be given a soapy warm water wash and clear water rinse and natural dry.

The second kit is one that I've been seeking for a few years. Recently seen on ebay.com at $174 down from $!99! I found this on a website here in the UK that specialises in pre-owned kits, for just £30 plus £6 postage and packing!

Again as the other kit I have already scanned and given the decals 2 coats of gloss clear. The plastics will go through the wash process tomorrow.

A few interesting months ahead!

Patrick, have you opened it yet?

I'm wondering if it's really 1/32. Sometimes they made mistakes on the scale. I'm wondering because the wheels on that car are a dead ringer for the ones in MPC's "Switchers" T Bucket and some other of thier 1/25 cars. I'd be inrested to see what they look like size wise compared to a standard 1/25 kit wheel.

It really is 1/32nd. I had the C Cab hot rod and a T-Bucket style rail from the series and they had those wheels as well. Pretty nice detail for such simple kits.

Intresting. I wonder if they just cribbed the wheels from MPC and shrunk them down. Here's a pic of the MPC wheel. I sanded the lip off the rim on this one so it's match the rear wheels I used but as you can see, they look pretty well identical.

Got my first shipping Pod (16ft) delivered from my Arizona house to my Ohio house.   It has a lot of misc home supplies, clothes, etc and about 1000 model cars--new and old--that I bought over the last 9 years in AZ.....opened one model box to check the contents, appears fine.

Wife and I rode up to Columbus Ohio for the Buckeye Classic. A good show. Looked like  they had a killer turnout for the contest tables. We left around 12.30 and it looked like contest stuff was still coming in .

I wasn't really looking for much of anything , just wanted to get out of the house for the day with my better half.

I did manage to snag  a few goodies.  Picked up a sealed MPC 1971 Roadrunner , really clean builder 62 Impala convertible. a decent 64 Mercury park Lane convertible, a 1964 Valiant craftsman . and a few misc parts I thought I needed for some old annual. Overall really not a bad day I guess.

The wheels are all 2 piece plastic and quite a bit smaller than the 1/24-1/25 wheels/tyres, definitely 1/32nd!

^^^ I wonder if anyone has ever taken the body from one of these to build a stock school bus? (With about ten jillion modifications of course.)

I've thought of it, but I don't think the body's big enough. But I think one might be able to do something interesting and rod-ish with it, putting it on a truck chassis of some kind.

bus

Close enough for ya?  I still have to take some good photos of it... and fix that one decal.

^^^ That's s'cool!

Just nabbed a Hubley '60 Ford wagon cheeep - missing the rear bumper but I have one:

Between it and the cut-up example I got recently, I have enough pieces to finish one car - maybe both if I can get someone to vacuform the windshield.

I'm going to restore it eventually.  It's a builtup in decent shape.

Found these on ebay a few weeks ago and got them last week:
Have not decided yet if i am going to build the black thunder from the box or add righthand dash and floor from auslowe to make it more australian as it is lefthand drive from the box.
Also was thinking of having the truck pull the trailer as i think it will look good to have a black truck pull a darkblue trailer.

Yes, 1/32, I get that. No need to beat it home.

Speaking of 1/24 figures, here's a heads-up.  Sprue Brothers is having a 35% off sale right now.  One sale item is the Verlinden 1/24 "CHiPs Officer" shown below.  With the 35% off, the price is $5.84.  As you know, Verlinden went out of business recently and all its molds etc. were probably destroyed.  So if you want one of these, this might be a good time to get it before "eBay Fever" strikes.

Sprue Bros. doesn't have a lot of car stuff, mostly aircraft and military.  But looking around, I noticed they do have some of the Fujimi Ferraris on sale. For example, the Fujimi #12274 1:24 Ferrari 348tb is selling for $15.49.

I have no connection with Sprue Bros., other than being a happy customer.

So, what does the figure with the Jeep look like?

She's a little peach...colored resin thing.  I haven't cracked the bag to look closely, but it's noticeably smaller than the WWII soldier/driver that the kit also comes with...

The '60 Ford wagon arrived today - definitely not from a smoke-free home (in fact, the inner box it was packed in previously contained "200 cigarette filter tubes"!), but a good cleaning will take care of that and the residue from the paper stick-on wood trim. Lower rear quarters are full of glue but I'll either smooth them off or replace them with the ones from the other body. Yet another project begins...
