A local hobby shop was having a sale, so I picked these two up. My first Tamiya kits ever. Up till now I have only built AMT, Revell, Monogram and Polar Lights. [...]

Oh man, you have now become corrupted, no hope for you if you try building those!

Don't see this one coming back any time soon......Factory sealed....$10

I built that when it was new!  It's in my junkyard.

A new paint rack. $4.00 at a thrift shop. It's a "Lazy Susan" thingamajig that turns. Saves a lot of room on the bench. Other special-purpose paints, like metallics, I keep in a different place.

Just when i think I've done everything I wanted to do with race cars, this Monogram Mercedes 300SLR shows up on ebay.

It will join the Heller Blower Bentley and Monogram Chaparral in the stash.

Got this today for my diorama. I know. I couldn't find a kit on line that was reasonable. I could have built one myself from scratch but I'm not that talents. This will do. I just can't figure out the towing part. If I put it together correctly or not.

I thought it was pretty nice myself Carl. It was never used. Still taped in its box. And $20 delivered. A collectable and lower that most I've seen on Ebay. The lights light up and it makes some sort of noise. But I didn't have the right batteries to see if they work. Not that I'd ever use them.

Got some Chrysler steelies and some T/As from Joseph yesterday. I plan to use the wheels on a '71 Duster.

Outstanding! I'll be looking in the thrift stores now!

I'm hoping this works out.  I found a Fujimi Porsche 917 on Amazon last week.

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MMWAFVI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The thing is; it was priced at $7.14 with $0.00 shipping.  Obviously that's changed in the interim.  I pulled the trigger on it because: why not!  I just got a shipping notice and its supposed to be on the West Coast (the Best Coast) between the 8th and 23rd of April.  I'll let you know how (if) it works out.  It sort of reminds me of when Model Expo was blowing out of the plastic model scene.  I got two Accurate Miniatures GS Corvettes and a Tamiya Skyraider for (basically) the cost of shipping.

Very cool!  I had my friend Bill over yesterday so I had cleaned up the model room a bit.  I pointed over to my mess of spray cans and said that was next,  I needed to sort them all out, toss the dead ones and organize them better.  I have a few small Lazy Susans that are only one high,  this  baby would solve a good number of my problems.   I will check a few stores like Walmart and Odd Lots to see if there's anything like it.   Thanks for posting!

Very happy with these recent acquisitions. The  Perfect Plastic Productions NASCAR tires & Holman Moody 9" wheels, are to replace those of the Lindberg/AMT 1961 Impala and AMT 1962 Bel Air.  These PPP goodies are a new discovery for me, love 'em, vast improvement over kit wheels & tires, and have ordered more as I am now planning to change wheels on other kits. I don't like skinny little wheels on big American cars !

1/16 scale Ferrari 512 BB. The box is a little worse for wear but the kit is gorgeous. Some of the nicest body molding I've seen. Anyone know if there is a good photo etch kit for these?

Got outbid today (heavily) on a set of original '65 El Camino taillights and bezels (the ones that have been missing from the kit since the late '70s). So I did the next best thing:

Threw out a lowball "Make Offer" bid on this clean build of the original issue Gear Hustler and got it for less than I would have had to pay for the taillights and bezels!tango_face_grin.png.9947118170fbaa5bfeec0c11078d1ec6.png Now to cast some copies...

1966 Buick Skylark....needs hood (Modelhaus doesn't make one)....unpainted

IMG_2483.JPG

Ahhhhh....that's much better.  I tried to find a built stock car version to pilfer the hood to no avail.  All the hoods I found on line had a hole in the middle.  No resin options unless I wanted to buy the whole kit.

Are you going to rebuild it or leave it as is?

Leave it as is for now.  Too many other half finished projects ahead of it.
