Nitro Neil Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Excellent. Please tell me we will see this at MassCar.
Foxer Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 Excellent. Please tell me we will see this at MassCar. Unfortunately, Neil, I'm not going to be able to make MassCar this year ... too many commitments. It will be at NNL East.
Tom Geiger Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I'm looking forward to seeing it at NNL East! I had fun watching you build it. Very cool build. Most folks don't realize what goes into making a beater look right.
Foxer Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 (edited) Thanks to everyone for their gracious comments. Hope to meet some of you at NNL East. Edited July 9, 2017 by Foxer
Larryhagmansliver Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I gotta ask - how did you do the woodgrain around the center vent?
Foxer Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 I gotta ask - how did you do the woodgrain around the center vent? I just painted on a light wood color first and dry brushed a dark brown over it.
Chuck Most Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 (edited) Awesome to see the finished project- it's even cooler than I imagined it would be... and I imagined it would be pretty cool to begin with! Edited March 19, 2013 by Michigan Madman

Thanks, Chuck. I've had to go rescue the van up roads like the starting one in that video, only in denser woods. One time a flat tire up a deep woods dirt road with no spare, rain had just started and after having reminded her to block the wheels when on a jack the van toppled off the jack ... cause I didn't chalk the wheels! george 53 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Dam Foxman, I had a GMC Beauville van the same dark blue, with a lighter blue band around the midsection. Wasn't till I saw pics of the dash that it hit me it was a GMC van! Somehow I had remembered it as a Chevy!. You did a HECKAVA job on this rascal! I'd be durned PROUD of this lil Bad Boy!
Foxer Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 Thank's much, George. .. and glad I could jog that old memory!
Foxer Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) Sorry to bring this up again, but my daughter's Lab named Toby needed to join. Not the greatest paint job but this was my first figure and more just an experimentation. Edited July 8, 2017 by Foxer
W-409 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 This turned out fantastic. It was really nice to watch it come together, and you nailed the look. The rust holes, those black spots on the Drivers' side and everything else seems to be just there. This would make good Real Or Model.
David G. Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I've followed this build since the beginning and I have to say it's well worth the effort! Excellent work sir! David G.
Davewilly Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Very nice job! I was following along with the build....Glad to see it done turned out great!
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Very nice ! Looks just like the real deal
Foxer Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) Thanks, James. Â I'm driving it to NNL East in a couple weeks. Edited October 13, 2015 by Foxer
Kit Basher Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Hey Mike, I enjoyed following this thru your triumphs and (hinge) tribulations. It came out great. Perseverance does pay off!
silverdreamss Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 VERY NICE BUILD LOVE THE INSPECTION STICKER AND THE "MIKEY LIKES IT" ON THE DASH VERY TRUE TO THE REAL THING !!!
Scalper Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Been watching this from the start great build... nice weathering. and all .. panels look cool.
charlie8575 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Gee, Mike, I'm sorry I missed this earlier. I need to scroll down to trucks more! That came out beautifully, and Toby looks pretty good, too. I do so wish I could make it to NNL this year, but when you have a guy who's been a friend since 7th grade getting married, well...priorities! I really do hope you can make it to either Classic Plastic or MassCar next year, or both. I would love to see that up-close and personal and finally have a chance to say hello. Charlie Larkin
knarf Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 absolutely awesome!! very well done and accurate to my eye
