I meant to build this baby as the Arnie Beswick race car but was never happy with the shade of Bristol Blue that turned out when I finished painting it, thought it was a little dark. I decided to finish it anyway because I just love the lines of the body of the real car. I used a Model Car Garage detail set for some of the photo-etch details. Paint is Scalefinishes Bristol Blue and no, it was not mixed wrong, I know I must have made a mistake somehow and that's the reason I was not happy with the shade of blue. Jameston from Scalefinishes is one of the pickiest guys when it comes to getting you the most correct color possible when he sells you his paints, I just want you guys to be clear on that so don't think twice when ordering his paints, he is a great person to deal with.

I don't remember which clear I used but in this case, I wanted to polish the clear just slightly, didn't want to turn out with an ultra shiny car since it is a vintage racer. The interior has a lot of masking work to get it to look like that, I mixed several enamel paints to get the different shades. I also used embossing powder for the carpet.

One of my favorites thats been posted here .

Actually , This build is the one that inspired me to build my Beswick car. And my interior didn't come nearly as nice as this.

Nice Catalina! This one inspired me to build my Catalina too in Under Glass. Beautiful Paint Job as always, and nice detail all over. The panel lines are so nice and even too. My favorite is the interior colors, they are excellent and very realistic, not just regular flat blue or turqoise, but they have the "Metallic" Paint effect on them, and that's something I've rarely seen in Model Cars. Excellent work!!!

I think the color looks spot on to me here on my computer screen. Of course, it may not look the same to your eyes! Here's Beswick's restored 61 car in the same color.

It's a beautiful build any way you slice it, I'd love for my painting "mistakes" to turn out that nice!!!

Wow dude, that first picture just looks so awesome, this thing just screams real. The interior really puts it over the top, I just knew it was you the minute I saw it. Just wish I could paint like that man.

That's probably the best of all possible colors on that car. The detailing is beautiful, and the drive-it-to-the-strip, remove-the-hubcaps-and-bolt-on-the-slicks vibe is absolutely perfect. Inspiring work.

Great looking Cat Marcos. Love the lines on the 62's. Looks like it was just built, delivered, and waiting for Arnie to pick it up and put his touches on it to go racing.

Great build Marcos, don't be so hard on yourself, after 40 years in the body repair field, paint today can have up to six color variances that are still considered acceptable. Everything from method of application, equipment, weather all factor in while painting, even the distance you spray from can, especially metallics. These things can and will change the color. Put the decals on it and ENJOY this fantastic build!
