A small box was tossed into our slot. The problem is when the big doors are closed you lose about 1/2 an inch in your slot because of the lip on the top and bottom where the little doors are to get your mail. I had to wrench and pry for awhile to get the box out of our slot. The mail carrier doesn't factor this in when shoving various items in there. But, I guess I should just be happy I got my mail! I feel your pain Tony, we have a cluster box and I've experienced that phenomenon a few times. Not sure if it's better to have the package left on the stoop to be stolen or chance damaging what you ordered with a wrestling match. What a conundrum! 1 1
stavanzer Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I have the "3 Street Problem", as well. I'm on Castleford. The others are Castlerock & Castlepoint. The Devil take "Clever Street Name Planners" ! 1
espo Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Seems popular around here to have streets, lanes, places, avenues and courts all with the same first name and all with in a stone through of each other.

I saw a lot of that in newer subdivisions in Colorado. Or tree named..Aspen Glen, Aspen Leaf, Aspen Grove, etc. The subdivision my house here in Ohio is adjacent to is all Scotland themed streets…Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Glengarry, Skye, etc… Edited February 23 by Rob Hall 1
stavanzer Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I've read about the Street Name "Peachtree" in Atlanta. Every Where it Seems.
89AKurt Posted February 27 Posted February 27 It took the Post Office a week to get a check to Alabama, got a text with a scanned picture saying it didn't make it, then 2 days later the recipient let me know it was deposited. Good thing it wasn't my vote. 🤬 Continuing saga of my last job...... the Surveyor hired by the builder, who I happen to have known for decades, went out to shoot the Finish Floor Elevation, showing that I was within a whole foot (12", about a third of a Meter going off memory), which he said he would be thrilled to be within that much. So he wrote the red tape to appease the Flood Control bureaucrat to allow the owner to build her addition. Cost only $580. Within his document is mentioned "Corps of Engineers" which is required for working within a FEMA flood zone, to work in streambeds, which the County does not want to get a permit from for a project within my Water District. Yesterday I attended a meeting for a local Metropolitan Planning Organization (driven by population and growth), which explained what is happening with the latest and future road projects. Due to a fatality at a critical highway intersection, we looked like LA going to the meeting, and returning home. I know everyone living in cities expects this, but we are quickly getting there. Street signs: In Prescott Valley, there is a neighborhood with variations of _________ View Dr., at one intersection there was a Mountain View Dr., other side Mountainview Dr. 🙄 1
A modeler named mike Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Earlier today in the garage where the 3 ton floor jack sits, and not where it should be. I started to navigate around the car and nailed it good with my left foot. I think I must of used every word in the vocabulary, than hobbled into the kitchen. It hurt like the dickens but didn't look bad. I can move it so I know it isn't broken. Now some 8 hours later it's starting to turn a nice shade of purple. Arrr..😬 I have only myself to blame, 🤔°° Although if it wasn't for that dead battery situation the dang thing wouldn't have been sitting there. 1
HomerS Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) Dr's office wouldn't renew my Rx for blood pressure meds until they drew labs. Previous two times, I didn't fast so they couldn't draw blood then. Second time, I got blasted by the Dr for not fasting but I told her to go address that with {name redacted} at the front desk as I asked her if I needed to and she told me I did not. Sucked it up and had blood drawn but I get a call the next day asking me to come into the office. Last time I was checked, my A1C was high but I never went on line to see how high as I was told marginally high. This time, I set a new high score. Like golf, high score is not a good thing! Hey, at least it was still in single digits. Met with a different Dr...probably young enough to be my kid. "When you saw that number, what did you think?" Seriously?? That's like having a State Trooper at your window knowing you lit up his radar.....what do you want me to say other than I'm screwed? Wife (a nurse) went with me to the Dr appointment so THAT was a fun ride home. She wants me to toss the Doritos, Nutter Butter cookies and all my less than healthy foods. I refused but I told her I won't replenish them once gone. Monday I get a call from a dietectic consultant that I expressed interest in a meeting. 1) Um no I didn't and 2) the lady was likely the captain of the cheer squad in college!!! If I wasn't diabetic now, five minutes talking to her I may be now. Great you enjoy your job but ratchet down the "Yeah TEAM!!" personality!!!! Zero credit for losing 15 pounds since the last Dr visit! Started on Metformin to bring the A1C number down. The diet changes are gonna be a struggle. Edited March 1 by HomerS 1
A modeler named mike Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) Today I had the oil company that delivers our oil and services our oil burning furnace come out to install a new mixer valve. The tech did some trouble shooting to insure that it was the mixer valve and not another issue which I appreciated since the valve and installation cost a hefty $461.00 total. He determined it was the valve and proceeded with the replacement. During the trouble shooting he had me turn down the thermostat so the furnace would kick off. After the task at hand was completed and night started to fall it got a little chilly so I bumped the thermostat back to were I had it before. Apparently theres air in the system now and every farting time the heat kicks on there's a loud rattling sound that occurs. I am a lite sleeper so it has been a continuous interrupted sleepless night. Tomorrow I'll call them first thing when they open and air my grievances. Edited March 1 by A modeler named mike 1
A modeler named mike Posted March 2 Posted March 2 ⬆️ The oil burner furnace tech came back out per my request and was baffled at what may be causing the noise that I recorded taking place at the metal covered hot water baseboard heat. That system is a separate entity from the water system that supplies the faucets and toilets but is heated by the same furnace. So nothing to do with replacing the mixer valve. The only deduction is that when the tech recalibrated the internal temperature of the firebox it may have caused it. Something to do with temperature change and vibration causing the metal housings of those baseboards to vibrate. I did find that when I inspected the metal housing in my bedroom some areas were unclipped from the brackets, probably from being bumped during vacuuming? I also noticed that the finns around the copper pipes are in dire need of cleaning. I moved out of my parents (this) house in 1983 to get married and I highly doubt mom or dad ever pulled them apart to clean them. So today's chore will be to pull off the metal housing and clean them and make sure that it's all properly clipped again. 🤞it will do the trick, it can't hurt.
A modeler named mike Posted March 3 Posted March 3 ⬆️⬆️ Finally an answer to my sleepless nights per the furnace. After dismantling and the cleaning of the baseboard heating housing and finns I was sure I had picked the problem, NOPE! Another sleep interrupted night seeing every stinking hour on the clock. This morning I called to have a different tech come out and see if he could remedy the noise. We'll I'll be a monkeys uncle if he didn't pick up on it immediately. Which inturn made me feel as dumb as a rock for not picking up on it myself. When the original tech installed the mixer valve, the vertical pipe it's attached to apparently moved back enough that it rested on another pipe causing it to chatter when the furnace kicked on.. he separated the pipes with a wedge of cardboard and good to go. Totally cost of his visit, zip..0, nota. 2

mk11 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Booger hangers! (nose hardware) Nothing destroys the appetite quicker than a extra-large presence in the drivethru window wearing barbells in her nasal cavity... maybe this fad is a stealth campaign to make America healthy again? stinkybritches Posted March 5 Posted March 5 (edited) Me. I'm irked at myself today. I printed a chassis jig for the Salvinos JR next gen NASCAR kits but, being the impatient moron that I am, I pulled it out of the printer before everything cooled down and warped the jig. I have another one going on the printer, but I'm going to see if I can unwarp the first one with heat and some clamps. Edited March 5 by stinkybritches More words
Tim W. SoCal Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I got a new prescription today and the copay is OUTRAGEOUS... I don't mind paying for medicine, but is bugs the stinkin' snake snot out of me to have to help pay for TV and radio advertising every 15 minutes on every station in the United States.
TonyK Posted March 8 Posted March 8 It's amazing how Amazon can deliver an order the next day or two after you place it but then they can completely fail other times. Placed an order a week ago and they said it would be delivered between March 3-5. Nope. Then said it would arrive yesterday, the 7th. Nope. Now they say the 14th!
Mark Posted March 8 Posted March 8 The difference might be in the shipper. After reading about "silk fingernail wrap" here (for reinforcing seams between cut parts) I decided to try it on a project. I ordered it on 2/24, pretty much right away it got a postal ID number for tracking. It sat at the seller's chosen "shipping partner" for a week or so before starting to move again yesterday. I'll probably get it on Monday. Contrast that with Spotlight Hobbies, where I can place an order and have the darn thing waiting on my porch two days later. Three business days this time, I think I placed this order very late in the day.
A modeler named mike Posted March 8 Posted March 8 An Immediate family member who I've continued to put my life on hold for and have bent over backwards to help navigate and strengthen out their health issues and have gone way above the norm for which that individual actually deserves only to be berated by, cursed at and threatened by because that individual has a preexisting mental health issue (bipolar) that they refuse to acknowledge and do anything about. This animosity apparently has been festering with-in and supposedly is my all my fault and was unleashed causing an argumentative situation that in my eyes is NOT repairable. So much for helping those who dont deserve it but it's done out of love a strong commitment to aid your own blood. Shameful that bridges can be burnt without any thought to the repercussions that can follow ones unfounded actions. As my Dad always said, "On the way out, don't let the door hit you in the @$$!" 1

There is lot of difference in quality of service depending on if it’s shipping from Amazon or from an Amazon Marketplace 3rd party. There is a lot of variability I’ve found.

I am so sorry for you. This kind of thing is extremely hurtful.Sometimes you do need to take break, and re-evaluate the whole situation and relationship. Even with family, sometimes it can be fixed, and other times No-Contact is the best thing for you to do. Good Luck. 1

Having been in a similar situation with an aging parent I can sympathize with your situation. Often it may be the fear of actually dying besides any basic mental issues. Unfortunately, at this point it is not uncommon for someone to be very unappreciative of everything you are doing for them. Just know you're doing the right thing as a person, but there comes a time when maybe Hospice Care may be the best answer. 1
