Got up early Sunday morning to watch the last couple of hours coverage of Le Mans and it was all golf! No crawler along the bottom to explain this either. One of the biggest races in the world and we get golf. Happy Fathers Day. No. Got to see F1 live but it wasn't too exciting.

I think the race switched channels twice. I read they put up very brief notices about the channel switches..

I like technology too, but Peteski's POINT was the idiotic suffixes added to emails automatically by a lot of these devices: "Some people's emails have a very annoying tag on the end. Things like "This was sent from my Verizon 4G smart phone", "This was sent from my super iPhone5"

I've always seen it as an apology for all the typos and spell correction mistakes!      As in  "Hey, I can really type and spell on a real computer, but I carved this message out on my stupid phone with one friggin finger for ya, spell check fighting me all the way!   :P

seriously technology (whore)you write,... really pal poor choice of words for I like all that technology stuff

Yeah, that's just standard stuff w/ email clients on phones, tabbys, etc...my sister's Samsung phone puts 'Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE smartphone' on her emails, mine says 'Sent from my iPhone' if I use the standard iPhone email app, when I use Gmail I have a specific signature w/ my name and email address.   No big deal....

Now my central air going out at 3am this morning---that really, really irked me and didn't make my day...at least it's fixed now, the house has cooled off from a high of 100 down to 86 degrees...

I got let go tonight from the job I have had for just 3 weeks. And the first two were training for an assembly job that they didn't have me do.

After one week and two days of actually doing this job I was told I was too slow. I was still learning the !@#$%^& job, hadn't even gotten close to working on speed. And I hadn't heard any feedback before the "you're too slow, got to let you go" tonight.

Sigh. Was just getting used to having an income again. If I had a gun I would ventilate my brain.

That sucks man, sorry to hear it. But, if they were the type of place to get rid of someone for being "too slow" without approaching you first and letting you know they expect you to be "faster," it probably wouldn't have been a very good company to work for anyway. I'm sure you'll find something better.

Just another irritating instance of the marketing dwerbs having to stick their tiny little protuberances in everything every chance they get.

Somebody somewhere must think recipients of mail tagged with this carp will have to rush out and buy the thing because somebody else has it.

Pathetic.

i don't understand the difference:

"Plan your work, work your plan

"One test result is worth one thousand expert opinions" - Wernher von Braun

"Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something." -Plato

"Never give up, never surrender." -Commander Jason Nesmith"

same as folks who need to list every item they own at the bottom of their posts as if it contributed to their value in society.

That's pretty pathetic management and communication on the company's part. I'm very sorry that happened to you.

Colby's right; you don't want to work for a bunch of idiots like that. There's no excuse for treating anyone like they're disposable, and terminating with no warning.

Hang in there. I know it's tough, but something better is sure to come your way.

sounds like he was a temp/contract worker, companies get to treat you like disposable things when you "technically" aren't actually employed by them.

this is just one of the reasons I find the current corporate hiring policies offensive and bad for the USA.

as an employee, there is no good reason to perform any better than any of the other temp workers other than what it takes to keep from getting "let go".

no loyalty to the company is needed, no desire to improve the product or process is needed....you are just a drone to "do the thing" they need done.

ummm, yeah, that got a bit "ranty", but too many people in our "great nation" are in this situation whether they are great workers or not.

I bet you could find out the impact on companies if you could get all temp/contract workers to take one day off (all on the same day) and then see how many companies are still able to meet their daily output requirement.

I sympathize with Russ and hope he has better luck with his next employer (but I hope it's not temp work).

Huh? What? "Every item they own"? WTF?

Oh wait...I think we may be having a ghost visitation from Southpier again.  ;)

We have two designated model car clubs in the greater Phoenix area not counting the IPMS clubs. The first and longest running club, the Moonlight Modelers has been going strong for more than thirty years. At some point another club, The Cactus Car Modelers  was formed to accommodate those that couldn't meet on the Saturdays the MLM met.

Now the rub, another individual has been successfully putting on a "Swap Meet" several times a year giving all a chance to sell and trade their wares.

It seems as if there has been a falling out of these two groups and many in the two model clubs have been scheduling events against the "Postal Swap Meets'.

This just seems to be so counter productive in a hobby where we can use every resource we can get.

Kind of like the old " Cut off your nose to spite your face."

This saddens me a little since I was with MLM when there were less than twenty members (I have proof...a thirty+ year old membership list). I hope this is just a coincidental observation rather than malicious intent between the two groups.

The two groups not being the two clubs but two groups within these clubs that over the years have come to some animosity and have seen necessary to move their personal battle to the club meetings, shows and swap meets to the point where others not aware of these personal feelings have taken up sides pitting one show / swap meet against the other to the detriment of the hobby.

Always amazing to me how politics and power struggles arise among humans in the most ridiculous arenas...and are almost ALWAYS counterproductive and to the detriment of whatever the larger group is about.

Not today, but yesterday, mother nature and her birds irked me.

Here's my Tahoe. And what happens when a hawk or falcon or pterodactyl or whatever has a steady diet of gophers. This is one bird, one dump.

You can see the little bugger sitting on top of that lightpost.

Good job!  What did you do to tick off Karma??

My wife's friends!

Couple friends of hers contacted her the other day to get together on Saturday.  We had plans, but we moved it around to accommodate them.  Bought barbecue supplies, cleaned up the pool area, and were expecting them here at our house at noon.

My wife gets a call that "something came up" and they can't get here until 4pm.  I'll bet they got a better offer, they are dumb enough to post it on FaceBook so we will see!

My personal rule is not to park within 5 spots in any light post for that very reason.  I may have to walk a little farther to get into whatever place I'm going to but I do not have to clean bird exhaust off my car. A fair trade-off as far as I'm concerned.
