espo Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 The blankity blank weather man says we'll see snow showers Thursday morning. I still have several inches of leaves on the ground to clean up.
Hotrod 97 Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 I wanted to do some painting outside today, but it appears to be raining...

Rob Hall Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 (edited) Yeah, the time change is not fun...it messes up my sleep for a few days after the change. And the dogs don't care. At least it's daylight earlier. It could be worse, I remember being in the UK once in December and it was dark before 4pm. Edited November 6, 2018 by Rob Hall
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Coming home in the dark doesn't bother me, but I despise having to get up in the dark.
mikemodeler Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Criss- crossing the country last week, adapting to a 3 hour time change only to come home in time to "fall back" an hour! Add in a nasty head cold and my body is all discombobulated!

Back and forth from east coast to west coast twice in 14 days, having to be on Pacific time for 5 days each time, working 12 hour days. Eat and sleep schedule out of whack, immune system down. Add in the time change and crazy weather (dry warm air out west, humid cool air in NC) and it's a wonder I know my name!
iamsuperdan Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 Doesn't take much for everyone to completely forget how to drive. The same people I know that smashed up their vehicles last year have already started smashing up their vehicles this year. Arghh...an inch of snow...

I went to my local DMV today and it was crowded as the office is closed on Monday's and closed yesterday because it was Election Day. There was a long line and also a shorter one for veterans, seniors, and handicap persons. Well that fits me and they were able to answer all my questions, point me in the right direction, and order me new plates as well as sell me a sticker for my current plates. Yep, I was a "happy camper" when I left there.
Rob Hall Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 (edited) My most recent DMV experience (June 2017) was surprisingly smooth. I managed to get a driver's license, VIN check, title, registration and plates all in about an hour and a half (incl. drive time between 3 locations). Maybe because I went on a random Thursday morning. I was moving into Ohio from Arizona w/ a vehicle that was still on an AZ temporary plate (got a 90 day temporary because I didn't want to register it in AZ--would have been about $500 to register in AZ, was only about $30 in Ohio). Getting a license plate bracket installed at the dealer took almost as long. Edited November 8, 2018 by Rob Hall
Tom Geiger Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 Daylight savings time gets tricky for me since I'm in Skype meetings every day. Europe does theirs on Oct 28th, and US not until Nov 4. So we're outta sync that week! Puerto Rico, Japan and China don't do it. So we're off an hour all winter. This week I hosted a training class in Puerto Rico. Phone line opened at 8am their time, which means I had to be on the line by 7am. Put in an hour prep before that, I had to be in the office by 6am! And the office is 90 miles from home! Fortunately it's Friday and I work from home!
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 I just looked at the clock and realized I've blown more that half the day on this forum. Seems like a few minutes, surely not more than an hour. Duh. No way to make a living. Best get back to work.

mikemodeler Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 The continual phone calls from the scammers who pretend to be from "The Microsoft Computer Department", trying to get me to fall for their scam. I have used air horns, whistles, loud screaming and other loud noises and they keep calling back! Now I have started asking them questions about religion and politics!
Tom Geiger Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 NOTHING is irking me today! I spent yesterday at the Liars Model Car Challenge. I saw a bunch of friends, bought some cheap kits and even won an award! Today I am going to my granddaughter's first birthday party! Cannot beat that for a weekend! (hey, you gotta be thankful sometimes!)

You need to actually talk to them and tell them that they are calling you by mistake because you . . . don't own a computer!! I did that few times and I haven't had one of those calls for few years now. But I'm getting lots of other Spam from "electric company", and lots of health plans.
OldTrucker Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Our oven quit and the repair guy said igniter was bad, no joy. Said gas safety valve must be bad, replaced, no joy. Then he comes back in with a multi tester checks something then announces that the control pad is bad Antilles me it would cost more than the stove is worth. Told him we would just buy a new one. He writes up the bill and it was for almost 450 bucks! He wanted to charge me for the parts he installed that didn't fix it! Said he had to because they were already installed! After a very lengthy argument that my wife ended by informing him I had just got out of the hospital for chest pain and asked why he didn't test the power from the panel first he relented and removed the parts and charged us 75 bucks for the service call! I just love that woman!!!
