Favorite gasser kits?

Gassers and altereds are a recent interest for me and I'm really enjoying the genre. For future reference, what are some of your favorite gasser kits or kits that lend themselves to gasser builds very well?

So far I have built the -

AMT Rat Packer Chevy II

Monogram '39 Chevy Coupe

AMT '56 Ford Victoria - still in the works

Have you tried the Revelll '41 Willys, the Amt '55 Chevy Sedan, the AMT '39 Ford Sedan, the MPC "flip nosed" '57 Chevy, the AMT '37 Chevy Coupe, the Revell Black Widow '57 Chevy, or the Revell '57 Ford Custom yet? They're all "gasser" material.

if you are talking kit gassers, I liked the 66 chevelle, if you are talking gasser I want to build, a 62 chevy. 55 chevys have to look the most aggressive though, hands down.

One of these days I'll build my gasser project-The Trumpeter '65 Ranchero.With the kit's engine being so awful that thing is a great candidate for an engine swap.Right now I'm seeing a gray primer finish with a blown big block Ford and a straight axle-subject to change.

The Badman. Its long been one of my favorite kits. It`s a very basic simple build and a lot of people poo-poo it because its not "accurate" but in the end its just a fun and cool car and looks all business sitting on the shelf.

My future gasser projects include a '63 Avanti with the running gear from the Revell 53/54 Chevy gasser kit. I'm also kicking around a model A woody subject still on the drawing board.

My favorite has to be one that Tim Boyd built for a magazine article. It featured a 66 or 67 GTO up on rails. Absolutely inspring. I have read the article several times and think i can follow (with the exception of the exquisite paint job) however i would have to buyat least 6 kits to get all the parts needed!

It will be a while before all the pieces are in house to start the build.

I built up a 56 Delray as a gasser, it looks the part and the Revell 41 Willys is a great kit to build.

Also like the Thames delivery kit as I'm a panel/van nutter.

The old revell willys with opening doors and trunk,the Henry J,Thames panel,55-57 Chevy with opening doors ect....

stay away from mpc 57 flip nose vette good motor and headers but the rest is junk I've never been abail to get the front to fit body the cove never comes out right just look at the box art?

I really don't care much for the tall gasser look of the day anymore but when I built them way back when , I'd say too, the AMT 37 Chevy was for me. But I also used to kit bash the 40 Ford coupe into a gasser. Then I got into kit bashing short track circle track cars. I lost interest in drag cars till I was going to the track myself with a real 67 Mustang GT fastback.

The AMT '55 Nomad was a decent gasser kit in its day. I hope to build another one in out-of-the-box gasser mode very soon.

I have to agree with Ace & Snake. I always loved the AMT Willys pu & the 55 Nomad. I have my old models of both I did in my childhood.

Both are in pieces & I need to get them rebuilt.

For me, the Revell SWC Willys and the Monogram 55 Chevy Badman are my absolute favorites, the Badman being one of my top 5 all time favorites of any style.

But give me any of the Willys versions, or really any gasser style kit and I am happy.

I don't have the Ranchero kit so I'm not sure how different the chassis is however I used the Trumpeter coupe chassis under my '63 Falcon and adapted the Revell '41 Willys suspension.  Used the Ford big block from the AMT '60 Starliner.  Happy with how it turned out.

Here's a '55 Chev sedan delivery (-ish) I built from the Nomad kit back in the day. I intended it as a street freak but I guess with open fenderwell headers, it's more of a gasser. I still have it--need to dig it out and lay some survivor love on it sometime.

I'd love to build a gasser out of revell's newer tooled '55 Chevy kit.... I need to learn how to make my straight axle setup with the parallel leaf springs.... I'm curious if anyone here did a tutorial for those..???...
