This kit's not as crappy as people say it is. I consider it to be a blank canvas. The details are soft, but workable, with some scratch building. The 17 piece body went together very well and precisely. (I was really impressed.) The only real problem was the front and rear bumpers and the mounts. They had to be re-worked to look okay, but not perfect. The engine was wired and plumbed. Scratch built inside and outside door handles, window cranks, outside rear view mirror, and tail lights. Parts box fog lights, windshield wipers, and tires. Refinished in PPG lacquers, clear coated with DuPont urethane clear.

That is spectacular! Beautiful work in every way. You can be proud of this one!

(but you really need to clean up the red smudges along the upper inside edges of the doors...) ;)

For as many people who condemn this kit, a lot of them seem to own it. This may be the reason why. It's just good enough for modelers to know it can be built up nicely with a little effort. This is the second one I've seen built well and is the best one I've seen. Love the engine detail. I know you applied yourself there too. Lovely work.

I agree with Harry, that is beautiful work on a kit that needs work to look this good.

I do think that this kit suffers from the same dimensional problems their Auburn kit suffers from, the front fenders appear too short compared to the height of the body, some of the bright work appears either too thick/large (windshield frame) or too small (the side exiting flex exhaust) as compared visually to a real Cord.

IMHO Monogram produced a better Cord kit the "looks" more like a real Cord.

I have a couple of the Monogram Cords, and a Pyro issue (now Lindberg.)

This did come out very nicely. I'll agree the Pyro kit can look good with a little effort and time. The Monogram, does, however, seem to have a little more proportional accuracy. I'd love to see the Cord and Auburn re-done to thoroughly modern tooling standards. Two of the all-time greats of American automotive design deserve better representation than what we have now.

Very nice work on this.
