bobthehobbyguy Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Very cool. Really nice work. Definitely will be following ths project.
Jeremy Jon Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) Thanks Bruce, Daniel, Kevin, David, Ray, Carl, Austin & Jonathan - yes, Vector is first! Thanks Bill, method to my madness, as they say! LOL Thanks Brian, Dave Van - yes, it will be also, in full detail Thanks Ira, Frank, David, Monty, Mike, Shaun - yes, I know exactly what you mean, thanks! Thanks Thomas, Jesse, MrObsessive, Ron, Bob & Mike - no problem, mine too! Filler sanded and smoothed out. Front hood radiator exits crafted and attached, windscreen valance vents created, and thin over lays of fenders and hood begun. With the basic bodywork constructed, next I'll start adding the finer detailing, like window trim, fender flares & interior Edited April 3, 2014 by Jeremy Jon
bobthehobbyguy Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Some questions. How did you get the curve in the sides? What glue are you using for the body?
Jeremy Jon Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Bob - for the most part I curve the styrene simply by hand, even 0.75mm will flex a great deal, and retain shape, but does take some patience to make it retain shape, the rest is by layers and filler then sanded to final shape, CA glue for the most part
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Talent, skill, applied intelligence. Coming together beautifully.
Jeremy Jon Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 Thanks Dave, Bill & Mike! Adding details to front suspension; shock towers, coil spring cups, mounting brackets and bolt heads Adding body details; chrome trim around window openings, cowl vents and "B" pillars Continued body shaping, subtle curves of the front fenders and hood Start of fabricating the rear engine cover, and adding detailing to body further, including gas cap
Plasticfanatic Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 You make it look sooooo easy...but we all know is not!!! Simply said....MAGNIFICENT and SPECTACULAR work of scrachtbuilding on an equally superb automotive subject. Your superb Vector model show us what you can do...now I am also glued to this thread and amazing project.
afx Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Outstanding work Jeremy. Can't wait to see those wheels.
Captain Obvious Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I am absolutely speechless...this is beyond amazing and into the realm of "genius". Such a beautiful car, and you are seriously doing it justice.
Jonathan Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 This is amazing. Do you have your models cast or is each one truly one-of-a-kind? It is most impressive!
br67 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Loving this build. Awesome work! Reminds of when I used to watch Guido from Scale Kraft doing his scratchbuilds

Reminds of when I used to watch Guido from Scale Kraft doing his scratchbuilds IIRC, Guido was working on an AMX 2/3 before he stopped producing models. I thought I had seen on his home page of his website years ago, a rough casting of the AMX 2. Too bad as he did make some fantastic stuff------things you'll NEVER see offered by any of the model manufacturers.
Jeremy Jon Posted April 9, 2014 Author Posted April 9, 2014 Thank you guys for the encouraging words, this has been a fun build, and will have further development soon, as I have some free time again & work room! Thanks Brian, Fred, JC, Mark, Carl, Johnathan, Bruce, Brandon, MrObsessive, Mike & Buzz! Fred - you're 100% right, it's a lot of work, but also a lot of enjoyment for me Johnathan - Yes, definitely! Brandon & MrObsessive - Please post a link for his page if you can, I also like the AMX/2 concept, perhaps after this one? Some more pics of work done First primer coat for build up, continued shaping of contours and subtle body shapes to make accurate Nose has many compound curves, and interesting shapes, added head lamp covers and scribing sharp lines of front panels Gas filler cap done, more filler to roof, and further sanding until correct shape completely Continued work on shaping and sanding until body work is correct and accurate Lower front nose section being developed, with incorporated side markers, test fitment with full front suspension & steerable spindles, in place
lanesteele240 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Very nice indeed. I wish i could read what you are saying. The cursive is too tiny to deal with on an iphone. Keep it up. Cant wait for more
Jeremy Jon Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) Thanks Gary, David & Ken! Yes, more to come soon Edited April 10, 2014 by Jeremy Jon
