misterNNL Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 (edited) This is a "Race of the Gentlemen Theme" Model T Speedster I recently completed. It includes a semi-scratchbuilt RAJO engine. I will post more details shortly......along with images of my other Model T Speedster. The body started as a scrap coupe from my stash.I cut that into 16 panels while I narrowed it to the same width as the frame and shortened it to a knee crunching length. The added details include mechanical brakes, friction shocks.wrapped steering wheel and rounded nose piece. The turtle deck and the wheels and tires are also JF resin pieces. Paint is rattle can Krylon flat green with grime and rust done with dry brushed acrylics. The # 12 denotes 12 speeds forward..two 3 speed transmissions linked in series then a 2 speed rear end. Photos are by Tim Boyd used with his permission. Edited November 13, 2018 by misterNNL
OldTrucker Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 My wife made me click onto this thread to prove that it really was about cars!!!

Dennis Lacy Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Here's a pair of vintage dragstrip '27 Roadsters, both based on Altered States resin bodies. A '25 Roadster Pickup on a shrunk down '32 frame. A '25 T C-Cab done T-Bucket style based off of the Fruitwagon reissue. And a chopped '25 Coupe on heavily modified '32 frame. I wishnow that i had done some engine detailing on this. It looks a bit plain.
Snake45 Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Dennis, I really like those! Different and therefore interesting, and all VERY well built!

Great photo of a period racer with all the gear shown including the helmet and racing clothes. I like your flowing exhaust headers as well. Seems like the early racers were more concerned with intake than the exhaust. What did you use to make the toneau cover and your racing clothes from? I am working on another Model T roadster with an up-top that will be a buttoned up winter car with side curtains in place and tire chains on the rear wheels.

This was only my third project when I got back into modeling as an adult...after studying the tips in the modeling mags and picking up on some photo books about the early days of hot rodding on the dry lakes. The tonneau cover and racing togs and rags were all made of tissue soaked in Elmers...then painted with an assortment of Testors flat enamel washes. I stretched some cling wrap over the opening in the car body for the cover...the rest were draped over the edge of a rattle can lid to achieve the desired shapes.

I have used that same technique to make shop rags to my builds. I shape them over an edge then paint them Orange and dirty them down with dark stains.
