  1. there's almost too many, but most work on the same principles. http://rptoolz.unas.hu/en/sct/0/ https://thesmallshop.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3 http://umm-usa.com/onlinestore/index.php?cPath=21&osCsid=2dff73521dbfa37f356f33a4b9de7619
  2. came out pretty good regardless
  3. this is really nice; looks like it could actually be driven.
  4. shoe polish. india ink cut with isopropyl alcohol. coffee or tea. model paints thinned way down. don't soak/ saturate it until it swells, but several light coats until you get the color you want would be okay. scratch coat furniture polish. kids markers. furniture touch up markers. just have a look under the kitchen sink; there's something under there that will work.
  5. he's been in the business since the '90s and needs to learn everything? this makes less sense as it goes on and on . . .
  6. odd as it may seem, has anyone ever actually seen this "Gregg"? all I've been able to figure out is that he lives on an island far far away, doesn't interact with the forum nor produce the magazine people pay for. other than that, he's a great guy, we avert our eyes, and only dare whisper his name. what gives? is there cool aid involved?
  7. full packages in general order in a kraft paper box from hobby lobby. pieces shorter than 4" go in a plano tackle box. ones in between are getting glued to something. same with stripwood, tubing, & stiff wire. works for me
  8. make a half lap joint with styrene and shape it to match the cowl cut out. use brass rod to reinforce the hinge flap thingie.
  9. was the Parts Box noted? their products & service are great: https://www.thepartsbox.com/product-category/interior/seats/
  10. there's a magazine, too? are they paper or e-zines? can I get it on kindle?
  11. folks quoting entire posts. three or four consecutive postings quotes with a half-dozen pictures, for a two word reply.
  12. that was an old trick Henry taught me. to prevent red cedar bleeding through the top coat of paint, he would prime it with silver steam radiator paint. worked like a charm.
  13. like any research project, how deep down the rabbit hole you go is only governed by your threshold for pain: http://oldcarbrochures.com/
  14. square / rectangular zip lock storage boxes. clear for quick identification. wait for a sale or coupon.
  15. there's at least one; I grabber her 23 years ago. she has a sister, but we moved and didn't give her our new address for a variety of reasons.
  16. agreed. it sounds great to isolate so you can "get stuff done with no interruptions", but I think in reality the time is more productive with a low level of background noise and activity by others. not drawing you attention away from the task, but enhancing it with the occasional "honey, you've been at it so long I thought you might be getting hungry. I made my world famous snicker-mores and here's a coffee to wash them down" does wonders for the morale. it can also make your hobby more acceptable to others around you because they begin to understand the dedication which goes into building something with your hands. having the workbench & project "at the ready", tools out, parts prepared for the next step, can invite production when a brief or odd moment of unpredicted time avails itself.
  17. I may have missed: is it molded white or another color?
  18. could you show some examples you've done of a compound surface? I am lettering a boat hull in about 6 weeks and while not as intricated as a car body it does have fore-aft & keel to topside curves. the lettering will be about 9mm high but font can be chosen for its willing to bend if that matters. saving grace is a fairly smooth hull vacuumed form. will I need to gloss varnish first as with decal?
  19. learn the "basics". I understand we're all 'intermediate' modelers, but it's amazing the kudos modeling with obvious blunders receive. the eye sees what the mind dictates, but the camera sees all.
