moparfarmer Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Very nice piece..Unfortunately the tail light is upside down..The flat part should be on top and the curved part on the bottom..Not liking the glue in w/shield and rear glass..Would be better from under the body..Otherwise very nicely done with the right proportions..Excellent..This will be a huge success and with maybe some other versions Belvedere with a bench seat, drag versions..Going to be BIG...
Dave Metzner Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) That's builder error putting the tail lights on upside down.. I probably should have looked at the exploded drawings and and checked part numbers before I glued them on the body!.. Edited January 5, 2015 by Dave Metzner
drodg Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Dave and Art Thanks for the pictures the car looks fantastic. I really love the correct spinner wheel covers also. I will be spending some money on these this year.
Dave Darby Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) I agree with Dave Metzner on the taillights. I always regretted AMT taking the 49 Mercury taillights off the chrome tree and molding them in the clear red. Good luck getting nice chrome trim on those odd shaped roundy-round pieces! As much as I like clear red taillight lenses, occasionally, they just don't work. I usually use Testors 1104 Dark Red for my lenses. It's just translucent enough that one coat usually gives you a very realistic lense. Sometimes I'll spray Testors 1204 in a paint lid, and flow that in. Works great on small detailed lenses. Anyway, I think Mobius has another hit on their hands. Looking fwd to the 65 Comet! Edited January 5, 2015 by Dave Darby
mikemopar70 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 What a nice Mopar, thank's for the pictures.. Difinately another one to buy!!!
1972coronet Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 As much as I like clear red taillight lenses, occasionally, they just don't work. I agree . The only time that clear red (or chromed , but to a lesser degree) is frustrating to me is when back-up lights are moulded as part of the lens ! Pearl White paint is fine , but there's no dimension to it !
scaleautobuilder Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I like this. I cant wait for it to come out.
drodg Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I would assume like the 56 Chrysler 300B the Satellite emblems for the front fenders are decals or are they inscribed on the body later? Thanks again.
Force Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I just looked at the underside pics again, doesn't the center section of the 8 1/4 inch rear end look a bit undersize.
gtx6970 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 hard to say,,,may just be the angle of the picture. could be the tubes are to thick
drodg Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I know one thing the mufflers look really correct!
johnbuzzed Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I just looked at the underside pics again, doesn't the center section of the 8 1/4 inch rear end look a bit undersize. I'll be getting at least one of these, but I'm wondering what's with the circles on the rear of the chassis, outboard of the springs? What are they supposed to represent?
W-409 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) I'll be getting at least one of these, but I'm wondering what's with the circles on the rear of the chassis, outboard of the springs? What are they supposed to represent? I guess they are rubber plugs just like David suggested, but here is a proof that they are there on real '65 Satellite: Edited January 8, 2015 by W-409
w451973 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 This is cool. Can't wait to get one. Now I can build the black one from the beginning of the movie Hot Rod. Still need to find someone to do the decals for the 69 Cutlass in the movie.
80mirada Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I noticed a lack of a front sway-bar, being a big block car it should have one
Jay t. Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Not necessarily, sway bars on the early b bodies is kinda rare
Force Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I just looked at the underside pics again, doesn't the center section of the 8 1/4 inch rear end look a bit undersize. I meant 8 3/4 inch rear end, not 8 1/4 as my fumble fingers accidentally wrote. I think the rear end would look a bit beefier than that, but it might be the picture.
