espo Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 That Impala would look a lot better with some American's and Cheater Slicks on the back. I hope he has something under the hood to back up that Scoop.
SfanGoch Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Saw this beauty while taking a walk around the neighborhood earlier this evening:
SSNJim Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 No pictures, but I was behind an Opel Astra XR today with US tags, so that's all I saw. I didn't recognize the logo or name, so I had to look it up. Does Opel still have a presence in the US?

No. But a version of the Opel Astra was sold here as a Saturn about a decade ago, and various Opels have been sold here as Buicks in the last decade (Regal, Verano, Cascada)

I really wanted one (I had an Ion Quadcoupe for several years), as I absolutely LOVED the optional windshield the Euro versions had. That idea was shot down when the dealer told me that the American spec cars would NOT be getting that windshield. Seems as though the Safety Nazis along with some embedded in the insurance agencies decried that feature ever showing up on any of those that were built for here, which turned out to be very few as I see. Too bad, as that's one of the neatest styling features IMO that I had seen on a car in a long time, and I do believe the very newest Opels in Europe still have the panoramic windshield as an option.
Rob Hall Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 I remember those...seems like having that much windshield would have a lot of heat and glare issues.

This car definitely had an Opel badge on it - a circle with an extended "Z" in it (I know it's a lightning bolt).

What I meant was various Opel-based models have been sold in the US rebadged as Saturns and Buicks over the last decade..the Buick Encore is an Opel Mokka rebadge, the Regal an Insignia rebadge, the Verano was based on an Astra, etc.

They are all Vauxhall's here in the UK, German Opel built with the steering Right-Hand-Drive. The Astra which is shown here and earlier has an invisible glass coating to stop glare and to a certain extent stop heat build-up, but as a small car have no air-conditioning! I personally don't know why they don't put a paper thin solar panel element on the inside, to help the battery and light use. And It's been announced will have to be all electric here in 20 years time anyway. As long as we build about five Nuclear Power plants to produce enough electricity to charge everything, houses, all the gadgets-phones-tablets-x boxes etc.

Back in early '08, the one I sat in at our local auto show----that one did have air, but not much else as far as creature comforts. What was also off putting besides the fact that you could not get one here with the panoramic windshield was the cost! Something like $20,000 for what I thought was a very spartan interior. Compared to just over $14,000 that my Ion Quadcoupe cost in '04, I thought that was a HUGE jump in price in just a few short model years, although the Astra was a clean sheet of paper for Saturn as the Ion had been discontinued ending with the '07's.Then what does GM do the following year?? Pull the plug on the entire works taking those cars with it. Yeah, I know they were the victim of the whole bankruptcy thing.........another discussion for another time, but it was a shame just the same. Oh well..........

And forget about it if you need to replace that windshield! I can only imagine the cost. I've replaced a couple of windshields in my life due to rocks thrown up by trucks.
426 pack Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 Technically it wasn’t on the road but I went to my Mom’s uncle’s place and got to look at his 68 or 69 Camaro. and then I went to my grandpas farm to take a picture of the old army truck 1964 dodge D400. This truck is the one that he taught me how to drive in and yes it is a 4 speed standard.
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 The apocalypse has arrived! Today I saw a Geo Metro on the highway with collector plates! The end is near! Steve
Chuck Most Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Wasn't on the road, but in a Meijer parking lot. Which is only about 1/8 mile from the road, so...

Steve I'm about to send in for Historic tags for the Tracker. Scary that a car I bought new is now 27 years old.

It's all been in there for well over 50 years. It's a Model T Ford that they used on the farm. We put some gas in it & a battery but the starter was dead. I told my father I'll crank it by hand, after a spin we heard the coils buzz & about 4 cranks later she came alive. It sat there & idled like a new car, it was still strapped to the trailer so we didn't check to see if it would move on it's own. Maybe next weekend we'll go for a spin. Neat find! Keep us updated. Nice tow vehicle too.

426 pack Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Today I went to preview an auction that is this weekend and seen this.
iamsuperdan Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Proof that the 80s were a dumb decade! And I love it. Would totally bring that back to life in all its 80s glory!

I am guessing you are taking about the Chevy truck that I posted a pic of. For the right price I would bring it home to...... wish me luck that I can get it for cheap.
iamsuperdan Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 So my career focuses mainly on commercial vehicles. White trucks, white vans, that's my bread and butter. Having said that, we do a lot of personal and fun vehicles too. Today, we had three show up that really stood out on our lot. 2018 Camaro RS. Yeah, it has a V6. But it's a 340hp V6 and has a really nice suspension set up. Definite eye candy. 2018 Silverado 1500 LTZ. Fire truck red with 22" wheels. I normally HATE chrome, but this truck just pops. 2017 Shelby F150. Yeah, these aren't true Shelbys, but it's still neat. According to the badges, this supercharged 5.0L has 750hp. Didn't feel like it to me, but it still felt quick. And that supercharger whine is kind of addictive! Still, it's a Ford, so I'm surprised it didn't break on me or have something fall off. The dealer cleaned it, but didn't touch underhood. How a truck with 250km on it gets an engine this dirty, I'll never figure out. Ahh well, goes for detailing tomorrow. And I have a 2018 arriving in a couple of weeks for the same client. Believe it or not, this is a work truck.

Because we had 3 of thiese show up at our local ford dealership when they were new (one in red one in blue and one in that same colour) in Fort st John BC (which is only about 6 hours away from you).

So a little history on the Shelby F150. It's not a real Shelby, it's not built by Shelby. These are built by a Texas Ford dealer called Tuscany Ford. They have obtained official licensing and rights from Shelby Corporation to build these trucks, and they are fully warrantied by both Shelby and Ford, and they are fully recognized by Shelby. Dealerships can then become authorized Shelby dealers and can order these in. SO it's entirely possible the Ford dealer in FSJ is an authorized Shelby dealer. As an FYI, this truck is about $135k CDN. Plus tax. For an F150. Here's some more trucks they'll build for you. http://www.drivetuscany.com/ There's a Tonka F150 bombing around here. It's even goofier in person than it sounds.
