  Yesterday, I was driving down the freeway in a Gov't truck, so I couldn't take a pic, but I had a beautiful Rangoon Red with red interior '64 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible enter in front of me, headed toward the beaches with its top down. I don't know if it was in original, VERY lovingly maintained condition or if it was an older restoration, but it was NICE, almost pristine. (I passed it to see the grill to determine '64 or '65).

   My Dad had a Wimbledon White with red interior '64 Falcon Station Wagon, which was one of the cars I learned to drive in, so I have a soft spot in my heart for these cars. In high school, my younger brother and I rebuilt the 170 I6 engine and front suspension and added aluminum slotted dish wheels with B60-13 tires all the way around as a gift to our Dad. In the late 70s, the 2-speed automatic transmission started slipping, so I went to the local Ford Dealer to get a rebuild kit. The counter guy looked at me like I was stupid and told me Ford NEVER made a 2-speed automatic trans. The next day, I carried the trans in, set it on the parts counter and asked for the same counter guy. He came to the counter looked at the trans and at me, immediately got P/Oed and said "What the HELL is that?!!?" I told him it was a Ford Falcon 2-speed automatic transmission that he said Ford never made. I was then informed that parts for that trans were not available, so the Falcon got a C4 installed. A few years later, after he sold it, I was at a local Pic-A-Part yard getting brake drums for a friend's car when I spotted my Dad's old Falcon after it had hit a pole head on, still with the Tweety Bird sticker I had affixed to the headliner in the cargo area in place. Broke my heart to see that car in that condition at the wrecking yard.

Hiking back to the Blazer earlier, the trail I took runs near an access road. I heard an engine that didn't sound at all familiar, but was definitely a 4-cylinder diesel (the rattling, exhaust note, and the smell don't lie). I looked over to see what it was, and it was something I'd never seen in the States before...a (Romanian built?) ARO 24, like this but in darkish metallic green.

   Cool little truck, and how it got here is anybody's guess.

Saw a line of model A Fords going down the road, but I did not have the phone handy, but, I did spot this clean Impala on my way home.

Early this morning I caught this odd old red car out the corner of my eye heading straight when I was turning left. I had to go see what it was, and I did. I took multiple angled photos but mysterious only one took. Very clean Studebaker lark. Not sure of the year. Hope to get another shot at it since it's a local car.

That's cool. I don't see Studebakers often. Nice change of pace to see something different.

That’s a smart looking car. The eliminated door handles are a neat touch. They add to the overall subtle and classy look.

Saw this while camping, looks to be a 1958-'62 Shasta Airflyte; never thought I'd see one in real life, but it might be a repro trailer since some companies are now making retro-style trailers. But if it is a real one, that's awesome. Either way though I thought it was cool. Also, new people moved in a block over from us, and looks like there's another classic car in the 'hood now too.

Seen at Walmart, today, two Chevy Outlanders and an MV-1 in civilian colors. I haven't seen a dust buster GM van in quite a while and suddenly there were two of them looking brand new. The MV-1 was unusual. I haven't seen one in regular passenger van use before.

A real varied collection of cars today.  A straight and clean (about a) 1966 VW Beetle convertible, tan over red-parking lot of a frou-frou grocery store.  Just before that a very clean, cream colored (coloured for our friends in the British Empire-if we still have any) 1967 BMW 2000CS.  I've not seen one of those in many years.  Lastly, something called an Ineos Grenadier (think Land Rover Defender-ish with touch screens).  I'd never heard of the company but a local Costco had it on display touting their auto purchase programs ($2000 off at $100,000 vehicle).  I don't think it will find a home with me.

An outlander is not quite a Dustbuster.   A lumina APV, now you're talking.  I bet NOBODY has seen one of these on the road for a minute or two.

Always thought that model was one of the best looking cars of the decade and the only BMW I would want to own.

i see a white one on a rare occasion on my way home from work.  it's showing its age but isn't horrible.  until i started seeing that one i hadn't seen one in probably a decade or more.

i also see a couple white Ford Aerostars on a semi regular basis.  one's a panel van.  oddly enough the panel looks to be in pretty good shape.

Speaking of the Chevy Uplander (Outlander is a Mitsubishi), my local post office still had a couple in use back in 2019-2020.
