Harry P. Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 And yes, before you say it, I know you can lie about what you have under the hood.
Harry P. Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 By reading the badging? Assuming there is any.
The70judgeman Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 @Harry- True. But, on this one there were call-outs on the hood scoops. Just couldn't tell what it was as it drove by and then had to wait for other cars to go by before I could even get on the road.
Badluck 13 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Actually wasn't today but yesterday evening at the local mall
unclescott58 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 That is a very nice '60 Rambler wagon, above. Scott
Rob Hall Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Saw a dark brown Aston Martin DB9 with a dark blue Porsche 911 S cabrio (991 generation) behind it in traffic. Saw 3 Porsche Panameras. And for something more mundane, a beige '80s Mercury Lynx 5dr in very clean shape.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I saw an alternator, fan belt, bumper, and mirror from a car. The alternator want rusted and I hadn't heard of any crashes around there... O__o
Tom Geiger Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I saw an alternator, fan belt, bumper, and mirror from a car. The alternator want rusted and I hadn't heard of any crashes around there... O__o I've always been amazed at the car parts in the shoulder of the road. In NJ, sitting in stop and go traffic, scanning the junk in the shoulder is done out of boredom. I recognize the parts that fall off cars, or are broken off in crashes.. but an alternator? I've also seen drive shafts, brake drums and other parts a car wouldn't go any further without. I'm thinking that some of this has fallen off scrap trucks. The scary stuff? Ladders! I see a lot of those contractor trucks with a lot of ladders and scaffolding stacked on the roof. I realize that it was all put up there by tired men at the end of a work day. And when I see mangled ladders in the shoulder, I know how it happened. And I don't wish to be anywhere near those trucks when it does!
Modelmartin Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I once saw some broken chunks of granite counter top laying in the center of the Freeway! About 3 miles later I passed the guy hauling the rest of the counter to the job site. He didn't appear to know that about a third of it was broken off and laying on the highway. Ooops.

I saw a Saturn sedan the other day with a full size riding lawn mower in the trunk, held up by half a million ratchet straps. Good thing we weren't on the road behind it! Joe Handley Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Saw another Tesla about 10 minutes or so ago and just had a Fiskar Karma behind me just now, and once again, I'm not even home from work again!
Joe Handley Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Dad and I made a Culver's run tonight and passed a first gen Viper.
Rob Hall Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Saw a white Cadillac XTS stretch limo, first one I'd seen. Also saw a clean silver blue Porsche 944 w/ gold BBS wheels.
Sixx Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I've been seeing a '62 Nova SS, bone stock, sitting by my local post office every day now! White with a red interior... I think it's red, haven't walked up to it yet. I see it as I'm driving by
Joe Handley Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Let's see, followed a baby blue '57 BelAir 2dt HT part of the way to work this morning, saw a later, raised light E-Type Jag in front of the Enterprise car rental office by work as I was walking into the store, then just now saw a first gen Geo Metro convertable while on lunch?!
Agent G Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 '27 Ford rod. Looked real good in a rat sort of way. Sounded sweet, looked like it had a Y block in it. G
Sixx Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Well, back on July 11th this year, I saw 5200 hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, etc, etc...the Hot Rod power tour that came through Crown Point ! Geez, I've never seen so many cool cars in one place like that in my life! I wore myself out walking around looking at 'em! That was a blast!
Jaguar man 21 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I saw a very nice sounding cobra kit car, a dark blue lotus Elise, a red series 2 e type roadster , a lightly modded 1955-7 thunderbird and an early 60s t-bird
Modlbldr Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I saw this Camaro in a parking lot a couple of days ago. I'm wondering what changes the H/O package includes. I was driving into town this morning and noticed the Willys grille through the window so I had to go around the block. I'm glad I did. A 43? Willys. This one is a nice "in progress" pickup. A nicely restored 40 Ford. A digger. And these out back. I'd take it ALL!!! Later-
Foxer Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I m really happy to see all these vehicles ON THE ROAD and not stuffed in some garage!
1930fordpickup Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Tom, they did not make a Willys in 43 they were making Jeeps for the war here in Toledo( my grandfather worked there before and during the war). I do believe that is a 41 because it has the wipers on the bottom of the window, but it does not have a split grill. They could have changed that though. Those are the parts I get messed up on what is what for each year.
Harry P. Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 I saw a '64 or '65? Lark station wagon, bright red with a white roof. Edit: '61? It looked just like this, but the roof was white:

Moron fled the scene. Moron got caught. He'd just bought it at Home Despot and the sales slip was in the machine, with his name and address. Edited September 19, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
Harry P. Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Few years back, we had a moron lose a washing machine... Congratulations! You are one of the few members here who didn't say "loose" a washing machine. I swear, I think that maybe it's some sort of rule that everyone who builds model cars isn't allowed to know the difference between "lose" and "loose!" You can lose your keys... and your pants can be too loose... but you cant "loose" your keys!
