Chuckyg1 Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Came across this in a parking garage. All I can tell you is it's an auto granny. All the badging was removed including the top of the grill. The white "streaks" on the side are reflections from the lights. Despite the the hood, I suspect it may have started life as a lesser model, though I could be wrong. Still... a nice looking ride. 6
thatz4u Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 A Maverick pick up in the Walmart parking lot...
Suburban_Hooligan Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 (edited) i saw a guy on a mini bike doing like 55mph in the left lane of traffic. idk what the frame was but the engine looked like maybe a built up Tillotson 212 on what smelled like race gas. i watched him lane spit like he was on a crotch rocket, scaring people. it was mind blowing. Drivers like that are known as organ doners. Hopefully most of the organs are still reusable when this brain surgeon gits done with them. 2 1

iamsuperdan Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Went out for dinner last night, and in the parking lot was a mid-late 80s VW Transporter Doka. It was dark, and none of the pics I took worked. But it totally reminded me of the one I had...and miss having. I was drooling. My daughter thought it was awesome. Wifey still refers to it as a dumb looking truck thing. The boy doesn't care.
Suburban_Hooligan Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 don't say doka. ? i remember when people started saying that on thesamba and people would make fun of them for it. better times. not to mention nobody outside the VW scene knows what you're talking about.

Is that the body style also called ‘dopplekaben’ or some similar…double cab I assume.
TarheelRick Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Saw three '66-'68 Chevelles running nose to tail. Not sure where they were heading since I was going in the opposite direction. 1
The Junkman Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 (edited) I think this qualifies as a "rat rod". Petaluma, CA Not too far away, I saw a 1960 Bel Air, white over light blue with a period patina to it. Edited November 10, 2024 by The Junkman 1
sfhess Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I was in San Dimas, CA last night preparing for the Spirit of Speed show. There was a nicely restored early 50s Suburban driving down the street.

Suburban_Hooligan Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 its a traditional hot rod that needs a paint job. people used to call those "rat rods", then "rat rods" morphed into art cars, some even have a theme ? 1
A modeler named mike Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 As I was traveling by our Mission BBQ today I saw a couple privately owned military vehicles leaving their parking lot. A Hummer and this cool ambulance. 1

The Junkman Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 OK, this one threw me. Never seen one and never knew they existed. Even had a roof rack. US 101 n/b at Healdsburg, CA. No photo from me, it was raining and I was focused on remaining between the lines. Tried to explain the theme to SWMBO but she seemed utterly uninterested. https://www.thedrive.com/news/2023-porsche-911-dakar-gets-classic-rothmans-colors-as-a-factory-option 1 1
