'Twere a spectacular day, so I went for a long hike. 75 F, 45% humidity, a little breezy, and a brilliant burning blue sky.

Picked enough wild muscadines to make a batch of jalapeno-muscadine relish.

Simple pleasures.   B)

Nice! I found a honey hole of wild muscadines on the backside of my property. Dug up 6 small, healthy slips that I’ll transplant into the orchard this winter. Made jelly with about 3 gallons of them. Got another 15 gallons fermenting. For, ummm, science….

25th wedding anniversary today!

My mom was not a gambling person other than a very rare lottery ticket, but it wouldn't surprise me if I got a check from a casino that she bet I would never see this day.  I'm an only child so have the attention span of a goldfish and maturity level of an eight year old.

Sold my truck.

The Ford F150 with the PowerBoost hybrid engine is in super high demand right now. It's ridiculous.

So when someone offered me more than I paid back in July when I bought it, I couldn't turn it down.

3.5 months.

12,000km total.

So what's next ?

Got a jury summons that would have conflicted with performance reviews at work and vacation, so I put it off until the week of 10/31. Got my updated summons today and I am in group 46 of 50. I highly doubt that my group will be called for service.

Don't get me wrong, I have served on juries before and the last one was fascinating. I just don't have time right now for that.

My boss has a 2020 PowerBoost Platinum that replaced a 2019 EgoBoost. He likes it and has so far resisted selling it even though he could in a heartbeat.

The right truck right now is in high demand for sure... I've been offered more than what I paid for my truck a couple times. The only thing that kept me from letting it go was how hard another would be to come by

Neither. That's what another colleague with a PowderSmoke calls it.

We have guys with Ego Boost decals on their trucks. And even more with "Eco Boss" decals.

And we chuckle.

The whole vehicle market is upside down right now. My 2015 Elantra that I bought in 2017 for $12k when it had 29,000 miles on it is now being advertised for $15k for one with 120,000 miles.

We also have a 2005 Lecross I paid $8k for 10 years ago. I had it at the garage for state inspection and was asked if I’d sell it for $10k.

Sounds good until you realize there’s nothing to buy to replace them!

Yeah, I've been offered stupid money for my '89 GMC fleet-stripper longbed with a manual gearbox. Same for the '74 911.

Nope.   B)

Had my son's Wedding Rehearsal Dinner last night, and finally got to meet her parents. What a Hoot! Everybody seems to be okay so far, though. Her folks are from Connecticut, and we are Californians. The differences in style and temperament were real, but easy enough to adjust to. Boy, what intense people.

I was nervous about meeting them, since we had heard so much about them, before the meeting. They were much nicer than advertised. :)

Wedding is tomorrow, so It will be all over with Sunday. I am ready for all the preps to end, and have it over with. The last month has been crazy.

I think everyone's on their best behavior for the rehearsal dinner. They will save their problematic behavior for holidays and other recurring special occasions. ?

I am glad you are, but truly having kids and grandkids has made me a better man. It has not been easy (my youngest spent 18 out of his first 24 months in Hospital), but he is the one getting married tomorrow. So, I am happy.

Finally ran the Drag Slash today, went almost completely straight once the tires were scuffed in after the first pass down the drive!

And that was only on a 2s/7.4v pack that wasn’t fully charged or using the included optional pinion (motor) gear that is optimized for that kind of battery!  I also found that the “Trans Brake” feature built into the transmitter works with older receivers in other cars I have, I figured it would, but it’s good to know my suspicions were right there?

Wedding went off without a hitch!

Bride was beautiful (as all brides are) and the ceremony was brief but meaningful. All is well, for now. That is the last one, out of the nest.
