Maybe there is a little justice in the world. If he's really the one, I wonder how long it'll take for him to rebuild everything and work off the rest of the damages. Oh wait...it doesn't work like that? There were several distinct fires. We call them Santa Anas, but they are hot, super dry, hurricane-force winds. Start a fire in those conditions, and there is simply no stopping it without a large fire break. There's no way to know what these fires are like unless you've been through one. I'm in the San Diego (CA) area. My wife has had Forest Service fire training. We nearly lost our house to the Cedar fire in 2003. We were standing on the roof of our garage, watching peoples' propane tanks go up, and realized we were looking directly upwind. At that point, we left. Our house isn't defensible due to neighbor's trees. Thankfully, the fire stopped at the rodeo grounds because horses generally kill all the vegetation underneath them. Had it gone past that, it would have hit a vegetation corridor that leads right up to the back of our house. From what I've seen, arson investigators are very careful, detail-oriented people. This guy is in deep trouble even without restitution. 3
89AKurt Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Went rock hunting today, was hoping to find Hematite or other purple/red rocks, but instead found a mother lode of green rocks. Rain is forecast by the weekend. Already took out a few large ones and put at the mailbox, out before backing in. 2

My point was really that there's no punishment equal to the destruction and despair and loss of irreplaceable cherished possessions an arsonist causes...other than maybe feeding him through a wood chipper a few inches at a time, letting him heal, then feeding a few more inches through, rinse, repeat. 4

Very true. Under California law, if someone dies because of your arson fire, you're getting charged with murder too. That will probably happen after the feds try him. 1

We have different species of Owls nearby and occasionally they get into very interesting conversations. I could listen to them for hours. Edited October 11 by Tim W. SoCal Typo... TonyK Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Trampolines sure are safe these days. I remember when they had exposed springs with open gaps between them. If you strayed off the mat you might slip through those gaps or just pitch yourself completely off the thing! 1

Ace-Garageguy Posted Monday at 04:35 PM Posted Monday at 04:35 PM (edited) Ibuprofen is a wonder-drug for arthritis and back pain. I try to only use it in moderation, but some days it's the difference in being functionally crippled and being able to get the job done. Like today. Edited Monday at 04:44 PM by Ace-Garageguy 2 1

After bending over in the gardens yesterday cleaning out all the dead debris I'm feeling the pain. I should have taken some before bed last night, but I'll be popping a few throughout the day. Hope you can continue to alleviate the ailments. 2
Volzfan59 Posted Tuesday at 01:39 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:39 AM I took 800 mg twice today. Helps a great deal.
rattle can man Posted Tuesday at 06:36 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:36 PM All 10 jars of salsa and 9 jars of bread-and-butter pickled jalapenos and hot peppers I canned yesterday sealed. On the negative side, I'm feeling the hours of standing today. I could use some of that Ibuprfen, if I were allowed to take it.
Ace-Garageguy Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM Odd. Some days I wake up feeling every bit of my 130 years. Other days I feel as good as I did in my 30s. Today is one of those days. Thanks to who knows. 3
