Ramfins59 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I've seen some pretty crappy cars for sale on EBAY, but, who in the H-E-2-STICKS do you think would want to buy this piece of junk...??? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1951-Pontiac-Silver-Streak-Promo-model-by-AMT-/161560296494?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item259dbe7c2e
cobraman Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 What a mess ! Maybe someone wanting to build a junk yard diorama ?
chunkypeanutbutter Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Promos are far too expensive as it is. That is total trash. I wouldn't bother fixing that, but maybe a Poncho enthusiast might want it.
disabled modeler Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Id take it for free just to use for the possible parts it might have that may be ok....I hate to see any promo/model die but some things just cant be fixed....
Aaronw Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Not me, but it looks like it might be a good parts car for somebody? Looks like the bumpers, wheels, lights, and some of the trim look intact. $23 with shipping seems steep to me, but I don't follow promos and have no idea what this thing would be worth in good condition. If this is a realistic price then $23 to restore a damaged promo seems pretty fair.http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMT-1951-Pontiac-4dr-Sedan-Starmist-Blue-Promo-1-25-Scale-No-Box-/181452789437?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2a3f6dd6bd
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Poor little car. That's about the worst I've seen.
Deano Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 About the only (almost) useful part is the grill.
slusher Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Some one may buy it. Nothing on ebay surprises me too much. The chrome on the hood and roof is dent free...
ChrisBcritter Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 A. Parts car for everything but the body. B. Paint it mud and rust and make a diorama of a car that's been underwater for several decades, like the '52 Chevy and '69 Camaro that were found in Foss Lake in Oklahoma (along with the remains of the people in them) not long ago:
Jon Haigwood Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Well apparently nobody wants to buy it at this time
Ramfins59 Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 What a mess ! Maybe someone wanting to build a junk yard diorama ? Yeah, maybe "Junkyard" Manny Solano could do something with it since he likes twisted hulks of cars.
Tom Geiger Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Maybe that PJ guy could buy it. He could list all the parts for at least $100!

Chuck Most Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Looks like a solid bargain to me. It even has its own theme song.
Bennyg Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 eBay has some ridiculous prices in there lately. A recently released california hauler for over $120. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AMT866-AMT-Peterbilt-359-California-Hauler-Conventional-For-/331450750354?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Model_Kits&hash=item4d2c011592 Just a start. But plenty of other stuff on there way over priced. Ben

aurfalien Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 "A Very RARE Dealer Promo of the 1951 Pontiac Silver Streak 4 Door Sedan by AMT." Ok odd promo, but must have been diff back in its day. "This model is very warped and Very Brittle (type of plastic used). Friction motor is missing." Yea, to say the least. "We have never seen any other of this model." Umm... junkyard dioramas? "We will take extra care in packing this for you but cannot guarantee that any more pieces may come off in transit." Thank god for the disclaimer, I was worried.
Bennyg Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 That was in Aussie dollars too. When that kit in the US costs around $30 to $40 depending on seller, that Aussie price is still way overpriced. I copied the link from my eBay. It's from the USA. Maybe they hope they'll trap someone. Ben
disabled modeler Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I have restored some pretty bad promos but there are things that there is no hope for.
FordRodnKustom Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 If I had another one with a good body but needed a front grill, rear bumper. silver streak trim and wheel and tire set I'd be interested. With out that, I'll leave it for someone else.
John Goschke Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 It's rare because it's not a Silver Streak, it's a "Sliver Streak!" Gotta say it's strangely, mesmerizingly impressive in all it's awfulness.
