  1. This one turned out very sweet Keith! I remember when I was a kid, these things were EVERYWHERE. Nowadays they are a true rarity to see and just as much so in the scale world. Thanks for sharing this and taking us down a memory lane.
  2. Overall, this build turned out very, very well. The color suits this car well and it looks like you got the stance down pat. You've done a great job with the detailing of the engine bay and interior too. The only real hang up I'm seeing is something that you are well aware of with the rear valance which is tough to get flush on the OOB body let alone a resin one. One thing is for sure, you've definitely got an original going with this one in wagon form and one that'll be a compliment to any display case.
  3. That's the way I was looking at it too Dave.
  4. I can definitely see a year and a half's worth of work put into this one. Despite your set backs, it looks like you pulled this one off very well. Stance is good, engine bay looks killer and the paint / finish work definitely looks like it's got some good time put into it. Great turn out Brian.
  5. Now how cool is THIS??!! I’ll be watching in on this one Brian. I’ve got my instruction sheet out and will shoot you some pictures of it and explain in further detail what I did along the way to drop the car down to a more aggressive stance. I had to help our son out with his taxes and cook dinner tonight so I’m bushed after a long Monday. It’s only a matter of a very short time til I have the info to you.
  6. You're right Brian. It requires a few steps to lower it because of the complexity of the suspension but the results are worth it. I'll put something together for you tomorrow bud.
  7. Sorry to hear about the events that unfolded when you put the body onto the chassis. I'm getting to the point (and some will call this ridiculous but it removes alot of frustration for me) where I buy two of every new auto model I build just so I can 1.) check and correct any stance and wheel/ tire position issues and 2.) build a complete mock up and find all of the pitfalls of the build during the assembly process......particularly the body over chassis step. This looks VERY good despite the issues that you're having JR. BTW.......have I told you that your BMF work is some of the best I've ever seen lately? You sir.....are tha man.
  8. The more I think about it the more I want to delete the air pump "option" on this one. To come up with all of the plumbing and get the air pump to look right is gonna be a LOT of work and I can make up for the loss of that pump with some of my own detailing that'll look way better than a half fast job that is OOB on this engine.
  9. I started the engine painting process by black basing everything. For me it's easier to go dark to lighter shades than it is light to darker shades. Plus there's some shadowing effects that can be carried out on the engine block and heads this way and it also makes a good base for the aluminum and steel colored parts to bring out more realism in the metal effects.
  10. That tells me what I need to know there. Thanks JJ! Thanks for taggin' along Monty! Yessiree I'll be using Fireball's BFG tires Thanks buddy! These were the Vette's that I fell in love with as a kid. Glad to have you along as well!! Thanks Mike!!
  11. I'll be going with Bridgehampton Blue for the body and Chevrolet engine red/ orange for the engine block Dave. The one thing I did NOT like about the base engine was two big injector pin marks on the engine timing cover. I've gotta go back and get rid of at least one of those so it wont be seen from the top. I also don't really care for the air pump that's in the kit or the fact that it doesn't have an A/C compressor but then again I don't know if LT-1 Corvettes even came with A/C.
  12. Got the long block assembled and all parts cleaned up for black basing and we'll start shooting color on these pieces after that. We'll be going with Bridgehampton Blue from MCW for the color on this one.
  13. Your foiling is incredible JR! How in the world do you get it to look so clean?
  14. Off the charts cool Pat. I dunno if I could conjure up the stones to pull this one off the way that you are. Master class stuff dude.
  15. You mentioned the start of a new build being a good opportunity to put out the best product possible. I know that's the case for me even though it always seems that something goes haywire somewhere in the process. Some builds I'm not as much interested in the outcome as much as I am in using new products like the black super glue (which I will DEFINITELY be trying) and the usage of a different paint/ clear. My holy grail builds get the tried and true stuff where ever I am in modeling at that point so the outcome will be some what more predictable. A very good product came out of this build despite the issues you had along the way. I've got a Fujimi GT-40 in the stash and am looking forward to building it so thanks for the heads up in regard to body/ chassis fit being tight. Great job on this bud.
  16. Unbelievable shine and detailing on this beauty. I love what you do with these things.
  17. I'll be on this thread like a "rat on a cheeto"! Love most of the Terminator series.
  18. You've definitely sparked my interest. I'll be following this one.
  19. Thanks Dave. I've been wanting to build one of these for a while now.
  20. These were the ones that I grew up around and like you, have always liked this body style Jeremy. Glad you on board, both here and abroad buddy.
  21. I'm still waiting on some things that are necessary to proceed with my Kingfisher build and I'm tired of not being able to be at the bench SOOOOO....... I'm breaking out of the slump with a car that I've wanted to build for a very long time. A late 60's / early 70's Vette. This kit has a few pitfalls that affect the stance and wheel/ tire position but there are corrections that can be made and I'll be pointing those out. I'll be painting this one Brockhampton Blue and we'll be retaining the LT-1 350 small block for the car. The only external changes that'll be made are to the stance and wheel locations and I'll be going with BF-Goodrich T/A radials. With that being said.....LET'S GO!!!
  22. I ended up getting a set of masks cut using those vinyl ones as a template on a paper style masking material similar to Tamiya tape. They now look more like Eduard masks so I'm feeling alot better about that part of it. lol
